Introduction:
1. What is our Mission statement?
A. Our Mission statement as a Christians is the great commission (Matt 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 20:46-47).
B. Nobody is exempt! when Jesus said preach the Gospel to every creature, He meant every creature! (Mark 16:15).
2. We can’t leave anyone behind!
A. In The soldier’s creed it says, “I will never leave a fallen comrade.”
B. Brother Paul Mays the hymn writer has a Hymn titled, “All of us need to take the Gospel to all of the lost all of the time.”
C. Our attitude must be seeking and saving the lost every day.
3. If you only had one year left to live, what would you tell your children? “16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2ndTimothy 3:16-17 NASB).
A. Do you want them to be lost? Think of your family, friends, and that sweet old lady at the grocery stores.
B. Would your children be saved or lost? Will you get them ready for the Lord’s return?
1. “46 Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46 NASB). The Lord commanded evangelism!
2. What will Jesus say to you on that day? “21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter” (Matt :21-23 NASB).
Body:
I. Our mission statement! 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:18-20 NASB).
A. Jesus said go make disciples (Matt 28:18-19a).
1. It’s by Jesus’ authority that we make disciples (v. 18).
a. It doesn’t matter how we go, but we must go. It can be by plane, train, car, or motorcycle (v.18).
b. It’s a command that we make disciple! (v.19).
2. We must baptize them and teach them to observe all that Jesus commanded (Matt 28:19b-20).
a. We teach by Jesus’ authority (v.20).
b. Jesus will be with us until the end of the world! (v.20).
B. We cannot deny our mission!
1. Some think they cannot fulfill this mission.
a. Moses thought this way and he had five different excuses, Humility in Exodus 3:11, No Message Exodus 3:13, Dull Hearer Exodus 4:1, Not Eloquent Exodus 4:10, Send George Exodus 4:13.
b. It doesn’t matter what we think or who we are God’s will is always done! (Exodus 4:14).
c. God made a way for Moses (Exodus 4:14).
d. We shouldn’t be ashamed of the gospel! (Romans 1:16).
2. God didn’t leave Israel behind, neither can you.
a. God heard the cry of the sons of Israel and sent Moses (Exodus 3:9).
b. In Exodus 4:22 Israel is my son my first born. This has to do with preeminence not in order because Esau was born first.
c. God saves people thru his preeminence, and he calls us to proclaim His word! “14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14 NASB).
II. Christians follow God’s Mission (Acts 8:3-4 NASB).
A. Paul was putting Christians in Prison! “3 But Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house; and he would drag away men and women and put them in prison.” (v.3).
1. The Christians preached the word! “4 Therefore, those who had been scattered went through places preaching the word.” (v.4).
a. What if this happen in our country?
b. We need to always be ready to preach the gospel (v.4).
2. Think about your children and the way the world is today.
a. If you only had one year left, what would you teach your children about the Bible?
b. Would they know what sin is?
B. you must prepare your children.
1. You need to teach them while they are young (Proverbs 22:6 NASB).
a. Be the example God calls you to be (Matthew 5:16 NASB).
b. Be imitators of God (Ephesians 5:1-2 NASB).
2. You must Fulfill your Mission!
III. If you don’t Fulfill your mission your friends, families, and the world will be lost.
A. People are lost (2nd Thessalonians 1:8).
1. the Bible reads in 2nd Thessalonians 1:8, “8in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.”
2. As a Christian we want everyone to go to heaven!
B. God gives the increase!
1. “6I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth” (Ephesians 3:6 NASB).
a. We are nothing! “7And everything, we do is in service to our God. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth” (Ephesians 3:7 NASB).
b. God will reward you according to your labor “8Now he who plants, and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor” (Ephesians 3:8 NASB).
Conclusion:
1. Since our mission is to follow the great commission, and to preach the gospel.
A. We need to be prepared.
B. We need to preach the good news of Jesus.
C. We sing about it! You never mention him to me.
D. If you have not heard the gospel and been baptized into Christ for the remission you need to do that (Acts 2:38; Galatians 3:26-27; Romans 6).
2. If you’re a Christians and haven’t been faithful.
A. You need to make that right.
B. Don’t wait! Jesus could return at any moment!
3. Would you come now while we stand and sing!
