A Pastoral Purpose. In recent years the section Romans 14:1–15:6 has assumed a central significance in attempts to clarify Romans’ purpose: that Paul was writing to heal potential or real divisions among the churches in Rome (see Pastor).

In every Christian’s heart there is a cross and a throne, and the Christian is on the throne till he puts himself on the cross; if he refuses the cross he remains on the throne. Perhaps this is at the bottom of the backsliding and worldliness among gospel believers today. We want to be saved but we insist that Christ do all the dying. No cross for us, no dethronement, no dying. We remain king within the little kingdom of Mansoul and wear our tinsel crown with all the pride of a Caesar; but we doom ourselves to shadows and weakness and spiritual sterility.

weak Christian, not the judeaizers in Galatians, they thoughtg that they could put God in their debt by works of righteousness and were trying to force heretical teachings and develop followers of themselves, the “weak” in Romans is those who were not yet clear on the OT regulations under the new covenant established by Christ.

we will not agree on everything and we are called to not disrupt or withhold fellowship from others because of things we disagree on that are not clearly prescribed in scripture. Namely food and drink and days

Accept others because God accepts you/them

Romans 14:1–3 CSB

Welcome anyone who is weak in faith, but don’t argue about disputed matters. One person believes he may eat anything, while one who is weak eats only vegetables. One who eats must not look down on one who does not eat, and one who does not eat must not judge one who does, because God has accepted him.

God makes you /them stand sustains

The one who is intent on the day is intent on it for the Lord, and the one who eats eats for the Lord, because he is thankful to God, and the one who does not eat does not eat for the Lord, and he is thankful to God. For none of us lives for himself and none dies for himself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For Christ died and became alive again for this reason, in order that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

and every tongue will praise God.”

So each one of us will give an account concerning himself.
