Have you ever considered why David would write this psalm?
1  Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!
2  It is like the precious ointment upon the head,
That ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard:
That went down to the skirts of his garments;
3  As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:
For there the LORD commanded the blessing,
Even life for evermore.
(Ps 133:1–3).
Behold, how good and pleasant it is
When brothers dwell in unity.
(Ps 133:1).
This vivid Psalm is attributed to David and likely written at last all of Israel rallied to him now that God had given him Jerusalem.
2 Samuel 5:1 says Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, we are your bone and flesh.
(2 Sa 5:1).
See David started his reign for 7 years over Judah then after that Israel elders came and David made a covenant with them and he reigned over all of Israel for the next 33 years.
The coming together has significance and should be celebrated.
Its when the pastor can say he is pastoring the entire church.
Yes his leadership is recognized.
Thats what happened with Israel.
They came and said to Davis the Lord said to you You shall be the shepherd of my people Israel and you shall be prince over Israel.
So David writes this short but beautiful Psalm celebrating UNITY.
Behold how good and how pleasant it is For Brethren to dwell together in unity!
A state of being united.
Being with one accord as they were with the early church!
How many know we are all in this together.
If one falls we all fall!
David describes the UNIFIED state with some metaphoric language that we will look at today.
Its men day and God wants us to be together!
There is some real benefits with being unified.
The men of the church leading and allowing God to lead us!
Recognizing we need each other.
Unity, as taught by Jesus, was not unity in diversity or agreeing to disagree!
Moreover, Jesus' teaching and concept regarding unity was not ecumenical or hypocritical, it was based on mutual beliefs, goals, values, and activity.
In John 17 Jesus prayed that we would be UNIFIED!
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
(1 Pe 3:8–9).
...that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
( 1 Co 1:10).
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: ( Eph 4:13).
Or as Queen Latifah said U.N.I.T.Y.
Uh, U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity
U.N.I.T.Y., love a black man from Infinity to infinity....
You know what I am saying!
UNITY

Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
(Ga 6:10).
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
( Eph 4:15–16).
