We must pray for our country!
Did the election this past Tuesday reinforce that?
Do we have a burden to pray for the impending runoff election in GA ?
There is no hope for this country apart from Jesus.
It needs an awakening.
But what will THAT take?
Prayer!
Seeking God!
God is saddened by those who refuse to seek Him in their time of need. Who look to other forms of help:
Isaiah 31:1 (NASB95) Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the LORD!
Jeremiah 17:5–8 (NASB95) Thus says the LORD, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD. 6 “For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD. 8 “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
How do we distinguish between the one who trusts in mankind and the one who trusts in the Lord?
Psalm 9:10 (NASB95) And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Daniel 9:12–13 (NASB95) “Thus He has confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great calamity; for under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what was done to Jerusalem. 13 “As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our iniquity and giving attention to Your truth.
This really describes our country: Jeremiah 2:11–13 (NASB95) “Has a [pagan] nation changed gods When [even though] they were not gods? But My people have changed their glory For that which does not profit. 12 “Be appalled, O heavens, at this, And shudder, be very desolate,” declares the LORD. 13 “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That can hold no water.
As we sang:
Let us run into the tower of the Lord — calling upon His Name.
Believing that there is no one else that is a better friend — No not one!
Crying out for Him to meet with us.
Declaring to Him : Here we are.
There are copies of the prophesy spoken October 30 — maybe that word will speak to you afresh and anew as we pray tonight.
