"1So get rid of all malicious behavior and deceit. Don’t just pretend to be good! Be done with hypocrisy and jealousy and backstabbing. 2You must crave pure spiritual milk so that you can grow into the fullness of your salvation. Cry out for this nourishment as a baby cries for milk, 3now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness. 4Come to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by the people, but he is precious to God who chose him. 5And now God is building you, as living stones, into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are God’s holy priests, who offer the spiritual sacrifices that please him because of Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 2:1-5, NLT)

Take a moment and ask God to reveal to you where you are right now in these areas.  Mark the corresponding number, 1 being weak and 5 being strong.

I’m not involved in malicious behavior (willingness to break rules and laws, desire to injure others with words or deeds, carrying ill-will towards people.)
I don’t lie or attempt to manipulate or deceive people.
I don’t act as a hypocrite.  That is, I wear exactly the same face and do the same things in front of other Christians, strangers, acquaintances or friends who aren’t Christians, my boss, my teachers, and my parents and / or kids.
I don’t envy anyone.  I accept where God has me right now as an important part of my journey, in all circumstances, and I don’t NEED anything that He hasn’t already provided me, including more money, a better car, a relationship, more fun, or a better job.
I don’t say mean or evil things about anyone—even if they’re true.
I desire the pure milk of God’s Word, ESPECIALLY when it conflicts with what I want to do.  I’m excited about my Father correcting me and I like obeying when He does.
I cry out in prayer to God for the nourishment of His Word.

Where do you think God would like you to be in these areas?

The High Bridge

In the Scottish highlands is an old bridge that spans a wild river. Its structure is so massive, and it rises so high above the gorge that it is known as “The High Bridge.” But something happened that made it necessary for officials to condemn it. A tiny birch seed, caught by a gust of wind, dropped into a small crevice above the keystone. It lodged unnoticed in the lime, and before long it germinated. Soon it was a young sapling, but still nobody saw it. As it grew into a tree, its roots went deep into the mortar. Eventually it began to loosen and crack the masonry so that the arch was severely damaged. The bridge that had defied violent storms and supported the weight of marching armies finally had to be closed to traffic. It had succumbed to a small seed.
