Jesus is beginning to draw a crowd where ever he goes and people are coming to him for help
People are hoping that he has come to rescue them from Rome and bring political peace to Israel
But Jesus will bring peace to all people in all places of life
The Ruler of the Synagogue
Jairus is a ruler of the people, one who has been faithful to God for many years and has been counted worthy to lead the Jewish community
He bows himself down to Jesus
He has heard of the power that Jesus has to heal and believes that Jesus can lay his hands on his daughter to heal her
It makes since that Jesus would go with this highly respected ruler of the synagogue
This is the kind of people that a Jewish King would need to spend time with and hear their problems and help them
Jesus will go with Jairus but will teach him a greater lesson about Faith and his power which Akash will teach next week
However, on the way to this important influencial meeting he is interupted for a greater purpose
The Woman with a plague
This lady was the extreme opposite of Jairus
She was a woman, who had a lower status in Jewish culture
She was terminally diseased which made her unclean and unworthy to worship in community with others
She was weak and without any hope of any one caring about her need, she could not go up to Jesus the way Jairus did (vs 26)
Because of her faith she reached out to Christ the only way she could
Jairus wanted Jesus to come and place his hands on his daughter to bring healing by his power, however it is faith that in Christ that brings healing
Jesus wanted everyone, especially Jairus, to see and learn from this woman so he called her before everyone
The Christ of Compassion
Jesus does not overlook any person but will go out of his way to help and show love
He could have kept walking and kept appearances of high status with Jairus
He loves even those who are unlovable and in their greatest need
Jesus saves and helps those who have faith in Him
This brings true peace to people
He removes the plague of our life and makes us new
