“ Immutable Thanks for an Immutable God “
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
“Immutable Thanks for an Immutable God”
Footnote: Because God never changes, our THANKSGIVING & PRAISE should never
Define: Immutable — unchanging over time or unable to be changed
Define: Thanks — to be impressed with a feeling of gratitude for kindness received ( and ready and willing to acknowledge it ).
Paul is encouraging these believers
To stand fast in the Faith
Against persecution
Paul does several things
To encourage this church
1st: In Chapter 1:6 Paul Commends them for receiving the word in great Affliction
6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
Affliction — [ tulipsis ] — it means under pressure
Footnote: Roman persecution during biblical days included placing a huge boulder on a criminals chest & that boulder would literally squeeze the life of them.
Paul say’s
when you got the word
Things in your life
Wasn’t easy
you was under
A great deal of pressure [squeezing the life out of you]
But you was able
To still receive
The Word
Paul Admonishes them by
2nd: Chapter 2:12 By charging them to walk worthy of the call of God who called them into the kingdom.
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
That word in verse 12
Called --[Greek—Kaleo]- it means to summon, to call to a task
It’s the same thought
of a shepherd
Calling his sheep
And the sheep knowing
The voice of the shepherd
Paul says
I want to commend you
For being called
By God
you didn’t stop doing
What you was doing
On your own
But God
called you into the kingdom
The Power of God called us out
Quote: God’s CALL was great than the Devil’s CATCH
Paul Encourage them to
3rd: Chapter 4:4 To Continue to live a holy & set aside life
Paul says
That I’m charging you
That you would
abstain for stuff
Live a Holy & Sanctity life
God is calling For you
To guard your vessel
In other words
you can’t do what
Everybody else do
Scrip: 1st Cor 10:23-24 ESV
23 “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.
24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.
We’re not called
To blend in
We’ve called
To stand out
God didn’t call us
To be the world
But to be the Salt
of the World
Paul encourage them
4th: In Chapters 4 & 5 Paul encourage them To stay encourage because the Lord was coming back again
Chapters 4&5
Paul talks about
In Chapters 4 & 5
The great hope of the Lord’s return
[Jesus is coming Back]
So Paul encourages
This Church these 4 ways
But right before Paul
conclude this letter
To the church at Thessalonica
He does something interest
Paul in verse 16
of Chapter 5
Paul gives the church
A series of short admonition
He gives them
7 divine mandates
He says 7 things
To the church
Beginning in verse 16-22
When you look at
The Tent - The Mood & The Voice
of these 7 imperatives
They are in the imperative mood
Paul is saying
This a command
1st
16 Rejoice evermore.
Your rejoicing
Is a by product
Of your joy
Not Happy -- but Rejoice
Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV 1900) 10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Big Momma would say “The joy that I have, the world didn’t give it to me”
Your joy is not in Cars, Cash, Cribs, Cloths
your joy is in something
That money can’t buy
Thieves can’t steal
Water can’t drown
Fire can’t burn
your joy is in Jesus
Note: If any place should be on fire it’s the Church House [Joy] ----- Ushers didn’t fan you In the Club back in the day

17 Pray without ceasing.
Don’t let pressure, problems, persecution stop you from praying.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
3rd
19 Quench not the Spirit.
5:19. The Bible frequently likens the Holy Spirit to a flame (Isa. 4:4; Matt. 3:11; Acts 2:3–4). He warms the heart, enlightens the mind, and empowers people’s spirits. It is the effective working of the Holy Spirit that Paul warned against hindering. His fire can be diminished or even snuffed out if He is resisted. The Holy Spirit’s working can be opposed by believers. It is this that Paul warned against.

They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. 25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
