The people are faced with a choice: remain in despair or rise in faith.
In a prophet message found in the Old Testament of Scripture, God speaks and declares a way out despair and a way forward through faith.
Text: Isaiah 9:1-2 (ESV)
Zebulun and Naphtali (tribes) were the first part of Israel to be conquered by Assyria.
But in the midst of no hope, God makes a promise: “the people who waked in darkness have seen a great light!”

What does it mean for Christ to be described as a wonderful counselor?
Wonderful Counselor describes the “perfection of this King seen by his qualifications for ruling.
What then comes to mind when thinking about “wonderful counselor?”
“The Hebrew word pala [‘Wonderful’] indicates ‘something uncommon or out of the ordinary.’
It reflects ‘a phenomenon lying outside the realm of human explanation; that which is separated from the normal course of events; something that cannot be explained.’
And that is our Almighty and inexplicable Jesus!

Jesus has given the perfect example through his life on how to live our life.
Jesus gives strength for action.
Jesus guides us through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is the light of the world—and turns the darkness of despair to the light of faith and hope.
Through his wise and wonderful counsel, we can live a life filled with hope, assurance, and courage.
His wisdom illuminates his presence and our destiny.
