We are starting our Christmas series this morning.
This four-week Christmas sermon series looks at Isaiah 9:6 and the titles given to the Christ child Isaiah prophesied would come.

Do you love Christmas time?
I love Christmas time.
All the Christmas songs.
This time of year is the best time of year.
Christmas round our house has always look like it has throw up everywhere.
It more that just the beauty of the light, the ornaments and all the other stuff.
It what this time means.
It’ s a time that we celebrate the birth of are King.
Before we read today’s passage.
Let’t take a moment to see what lead up to this prophecy.
Isaiah
Isaiah preached to Judah and gave more prophecies than any other prophet regarding the coming Messiah.
He referred to the Messiah as the Suffering Servant and Conquering King.
Isaiah lived and prophesied 100 years before the Babylonian captivity.
At a time when the northern kingdom of Israel had be conquered by the Assyria’s.
We need to gloss over some of the thing that Isaiah said and talked about.
We have forgotten what this time of year really means.
The importance of Isaiah’s prophecies during the Advent season cannot be overstated.
The promises of God’s coming Savior can be seen at various times throughout the text.
More than that, Isaiah shows us that God has always heard the cry of his people.
God will send a King
This is the heart of this one passage.
The hope that one day a son future king in David line would come.
This king would be Jesus.
Has we saw with the kids this morning God had planned this from the very beginning.
Jesus was to governor the world.
He was to come for us.
Given to us.
He came for us.
You see he came for the sinner of the world.
We see a list of names that were give to Jesus here.
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
This name/ attributes of a this king will be the source of joy and hope for all mankind.
We will be taking each one of this names and talking about them over the coming weeks.
Wonderful Counselor
You might be wondering what does this name mean.
Why would Isaiah call this future baby boy Jesus a Wonderful Counselor.

Leader people really need
A good leader has the ability to be oriented toward truth and reality.
Lot of us have biases and blind spots.
We put on blinders so we can’t see thing happening around us.
This blinders can be past experiences that change our vision on how we see others around us.
A leader can’t have blinders on.
A real leader is more than being honest.
Leadership is about leading with a hunger not only to tell the truth but to show truth and reality.
None of us can do this.
We will always have some type of dishonest in and around us.
The only true leader is Jesus.
You need a Wonderful Counselor
a person who knows what is needed and speaks into those needs with confidence and genuine concern.
A Counselor you can go to for everything.
A leader in your life that you can turn to at your great need A Couselor that will never leave you.
Jesus has come!
Isaiah’s prophecy called for the people to anticipate a person
who would come and bring about foundational hope for the world.
Seeing Jesus as the one who is fully capable of leading and ruling the world at large is critical to our understanding how he governs now and our confidence that he will govern this way forever.
Christmas season can be a challenge for some
It can be hard something to keep your eye on the really meaning With so much darkness around us.
So many blinder that we can’t see straight.
We can really on the good news that Jesus came has a Wonderful Couselor for you and I.
He came so we do not have to live in darkeness and with blinder on.
He came to the rule of the world.
