Psalm 65

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NASB95)
in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

For God hearing prayers (vs. 1-2).

Silence and praise
1 Jn. 5:14-15 “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

For God’s forgiveness (v. 3).

All sin Rm. 3:23 & 1 Jn. 1:10 “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”
the beautiful thing is that when we Acts 2:38 “Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” or if we are already a christian 1 Jn. 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

For the privilege of worship (v. 4).

its a terrible thing to be rejected by God but it is a tremendous blessing to be chosen by God. 2 Thess. 2:14 “It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
When one is chosen, they are then allowed to approach God in worship or to dwell in Thy courts, and to enjoy all the goodness that God bestows from His holy dwelling place.

For God’s answers to prayer (v. 5).

awesome = or dread Ex. 34:10 “Then God said, “Behold, I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people I will perform miracles which have not been produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people among whom you live will see the working of the Lord, for it is a fearful thing that I am going to perform with you.”
worthy of every-ones trust

For God’s creation (vs. 6-8).

power - still the storms with a word Mt. 8:26.
if God can calm the troubled seas, He can also calm the troubles that reside in the hearts of the peoples.
Rom. 1:20 “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

VI. For abundant crops (vs. 9-13).

water, grain and soil
Are you thankful this morning? Have you given Him thanks for all that he has done for you. Giving thanks in Song, giving thanks in prayer, giving thanks in service and sacrifice?
