The sermon on the mount.. has to be, needs to be.. and is.. the heartbeat of every human..
and in this one sentence.....
Matthew 6:27 (NIV)
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Me — what I constantly worry about..my mental health, physical health.. church location.. money..
We/culture/society:
The world tells us to seek other things
To fix it ourselves
To go after it and strive towards it
if we are worried.. we need to do something about it…
WE SEEK Peace from worrying with a posture of stillness and servanthood
God/points/quotes
Matthew 6:25–34 (NIV)
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
But primarily 6:27
Yes, leave it with Him,
The lilies all do,
And they grow
They grow in the rain,
And they grow in the, dew
Yes, they grow:
They grow in the darkness, all hid in the night--
They grow in the sunshine, revealed by the light--
Still they grow.
Yes, leave it with Him
'you are more dear to His heart,
Than the lilies that bloom,
Or the flowers that start
beneath the snow:
Whatever you need, if you seek it in prayer,
You can leave it with Him--for you are His care.
Worrying is praying to yourself…
You-
how many of you feel like you always have to be somewhere? Or have a really hard time being in the moment? Or always in needs to work on progressing your career? Or trying to find a spouse?
Prayer/Spiritual practice:
How do we seek?! Oooo how there are plenty of ways to do that… but one often neglected practice is silence and stillness and just writing things down that we are worried about..
so we are going to do two things today..
1. write a list of things that you are worried about
2. then 10 mins of stillness.. with an opening posture like the mother of Jesus had in luke chapter 1 or samuel to eli in the old testament “I am the lords servant” “Here i am your servant is listening”

Poem/quote/song
Peace that passes, my understanding
Love that conquers, my fear and regret
Joy unending, eternal pleasure
In your presence, my risen king
I will seek first, your kingdom
I will seek first, your righteousness
Everything I need, you will provide for me
My heart is to seek first, your kingdom
You're all I really want
You're all I really need
Father every breath I've got
You have given it to me
