Chapter 2

ETERNAL LIFE and BETTER LAW

Romans 2:13 those who obey the law who will be declared righteous = eternal life

GOD IS FAITHFUL

Romans 3:4 Let God be true, and every human being a liar.

NO ONE RIGHTEOUS

Romans 3:20–21 NIV
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
righteousness is not achieved by the works of the law
the righteousness of God has been made known
the Law and the Prophets testify to this = the Word and the Spirit

THERE IS HOPE

Romans 3:22–23
This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
the devil wishes to steal our destiny our hope away
he wants us to stay in the bondage of sin
endless pursuit through works of the law
Jesus Christ is the answer

Simple Menu

all have sinned
fallen short of God’s holiness
righteousness must be regained
man cannot do it by the Law
faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to righteousness
Romans 3:24 NIV
and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

JUSTIFIED FREELY

there is no price to pay
justified freely by Christ
not by our effort, not by obeying the law, not by anything human
the unmerited and generous gift of grace
the shed blood of Jesus, totally sin free, was the complete price
redemption came by Christ Jesus
Romans 3:25 NIV
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

Jesus an Extraordinary Man

already established that all have sinned
all have lost our place in heaven
Jesus was able to be the sacrifice of atonement
he was able to pay the penalty of sin
WHY he was without sin
I cannot explain how Jesus could do this

NO SIN JESUS

as a baby did not say no
knew he was different - Luke 2: 47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.
he was tested - Luke 4:2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil
offered provisions, power, protection
Jesus was true to God - full of the Holy Spirit, knew the Word of God
did not sin no matter what provocation happened
tricky questions, exits left and right
Romans 3:26 NIV
he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
GOD IS JUST
why does God tolerant evil and all the bad things that happen?
why does not God do something?
well he did
he needed the sacrifice of Jesus for the past and present and future justification
the answer is right here in front of us
are we going to take it?
Romans 3:28 NIV
For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
NO BOASTING
boasting not allowed
following the law a no go

WE ARE JUSTIFIED BY FAITH
