A Study in the Word
Get Your Eyes off the Mountain and onto the Mountain Mover!
Moses at the Red Sea: The Egyptian army was approaching.
The mountain was the impassible Red Sea before them.
Their first response was panic.
The proper response was, “Stand still and see the salvation of God.”
Joshua at the Jordan: The mountain was the Jordan which was overflowing its banks.
Their instruction was to keep their eyes on the ark and start walking.
For the priests, the miracle didn’t happen until they took the first step into the river.
Twelve Spies: The ten of the twelve spies looked at the size of the cities, the armies, and the giants in the Promised Land.
Two, Joshua and Caleb, looked at the faithfulness and size of the LORD.
David and Goliath: The army of Israel looked at the size of the giant Goliath and were intimidated in fear.
David looked at the size of his God, “Is there not a God in Israel?”
Peter Walking on the Water: The disciples in the boat looked at the wind and waves and were afraid.
As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on the water.
The wind and waves had no power over him.
This Life vs. Eternity
Gleanings from Today’s Study in the Word
There will always be a mountain, a problem, an obstacle, a reason to give up, give in, stop moving forward, etc.
When God says, “Go!”, it is not for us to look at the mountain that says, “No!”.
It is time to get our eyes on the Mountain Mover and tell the mountain to “Go!”
Focus on God rather than the mountain or self
Take the first step in faith, “Lord, increase my faith!”
