Pslam 73:3, 25-28

Psalm 73:3 NIV
For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Psalm 73:25–28 NIV
Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
The Psalmist was confirming his faith
a.It has seemed as if prosperity had favored “culture” instead of living for the Kingdom.
The Kingdom lends itself to a different life, I truly believe Aunt Rita lived that different life.
b. God revealed the truth to him.
Psalm 119:55 NIV
In the night, Lord, I remember your name, that I may keep your law.
2. Good comes to those who draw near
a. God will draw near to them
James 4:8–10 NIV
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
God wants to move in permanently, not partially in your life
b. When we draw near to God, we will know God’s will.
2 Peter 1:21 NIV
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
c. We will be able to serve with excellence when we draw near to God.
d. We will enjoy closer fellowship when we draw close to God.
2 Thessalonians 1:3 NIV
We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
e. We will have greater joy in service .
Psalm 122:1 NIV
I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
f. We will have greater peace in trouble.
Psalm 27:1 NIV
The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
when death invades our circle of our dear loved ones.
When sorrow floods our soul.
We will have peace when we draw close to the Lord.
3. It is possible to draw near to God
A. When our hearts and spirits are wounded
The Lord is near..
Psalm 34:18 NIV
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
This is when we need to draw near, and this is when we are inclined to draw nearer
B. When your future seems uncertain .
John 14:6 NIV
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
In confusion of life there is a way.
In the deception of life there is truth.
In the conclusion of life, there is life.
