What is your favorite part of Christmas?

What would get you to invite your friends to church?

Luke 9:18–20 ESV
18 Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” 19 And they answered, “John the Baptist. But others say, Elijah, and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen.” 20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”
Christ means “Anointed one” Those who were anointed were the prophets, the priests, and the kings.

Who is Jesus to you?

Luke 9:21–22 ESV
21 And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
Matthew 16:22, Peter pulls Jesus aside and rebukes Him “this will not happen to you.”
300 Quotations for Preachers He Carries the Burden Also

The heaviest end of the cross lies ever on his shoulders. If he bids us carry a burden, he carries it also.

CHARLES SPURGEON*

Luke 9:23–27 ESV
23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”
The price tag for gaining the whole world is your soul.

Are you ashamed of Jesus?

Like Peter denying him 3 times
Romans 1:16 ESV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Do you love the Church? What do you love about it?

1 John 4:19–21 ESV
19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
You can’t say that you love Jesus and hate His bride.
