We are continuing our series this morning What child is this?
This four-week Christmas sermon series looks at Isaiah 9:6 and the titles given to the Christ child Isaiah prophesied would come.
Last week we looked Wonderful Counselor and how a child will be born. Given to us. With four names that some up who he is and how he will did and still rule.
Isaiah 9:6 CSB
6 For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
This morning let’s take a look at our next name that Isaiah gave to the child that was to be born. Mighty God but before we do.

What come to mind when I say Mighty?

What do you think of. What the first thing.
For me it someone that is brave, honourable, to big to wrap my head around. Mighty is one of those word when you hear it gives you a sense of being strong.
The word mighty means possessing great and impressive power or strength, especially on account of size.
I think of when I hear the word mighty is great army. This army cant be stop by anyone. They have so much power they roll over the enemies. There has been so many great armies of the course of time but they have all fallen at some point.
That were this name changes when you add the next part to it. God.

What does Mighty God mean?

I told Addie I was going to use this morning. I asked her last might what does Mighty God mean. She respond God. Which she is not wrong but it more than that.
Mighty God is Hero God. He is a God that will never leave you. This is talk about God himself. This Child to be born would be God. He is God.
John 1:1 CSB
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The Word is Jesus

We look at this last week with the kids. Jesus is the word. He as always been here and will also be. He is not going any where. We might lose sight of him. Sin does get in the way. The Devil does not want us to worship Jesus. He will try everything he can to stop us.
I know this cause the devil has tried many of time to take my joy in Christ away. When it start and I see it. I say MIghty God help me. My hero help me. My God you love me for me help me get through this. And you know what he does. He is my Mighty God. That I can go to anytime with anything.

Jesus can be your Mighty God

Unlike an army that will fall at some point. Jesus will be that guy that will fight for you no mater what. He is warrior that will not give up. He is the only hero that will never disappoint you. He was willing to die for you and me.

Jesus will lead us as the Mighty God

As believers, we are invited to trust in Jesus as the one who will provide security and confidence in our lives—both in the one we are living and the one to come. While we wade through the challenges of this life, we know that one day we will stand on solid, unchanging ground for all eternity.

Are you willing to serve the Mighty God?

This Mighty God is not going any were. He is here form now on. We have to be willing to lose our self and cry out to him.
Luke 19:40 CSB
40 He answered, “I tell you, if they were to keep silent, the stones would cry out.”
