Seminary class is the sum of the interaction, the q-and-a stuff that we did.
You know, we had to, we had to do reading and then answer questions that the professor would pose to us and then I'll respond to at least two other students answers to the same questions and then they would have to respond back.
I kind of miss some of that interaction stuff.
So this is kind of close to that, not quite, but almost.
And so I had two questions that were submitted to me during the week if you have questions cuz I'm likely, I'm only going to get through this.
If you have questions, you want me to answer, email them, to me, text them to me and I'll do my best to try and remember, especially if it's early in the month but especially if it comes closer to the end of the month, when I am getting ready for the first Sunday of the month and I'll, I'll try and give as much attention as I have to these for you.
So, there were two questions.
One was in reference to the bride of Christ.
And the other one was about the pat a passage in Hebrew chapter sixth.
So, for the bride of Christ, I put a a mean, New Testament reference there, but it it's not just a look at that reference.
Where is the Hebrew 6? Question is really focused on what does this passage meet?
So, two different questions, we'll see if we can get through both of them.
As we walked through this and I, hopefully, I can, I can be as fair to them as soon as possible and, and we can walk through that together.
So, here's the first question, first question was, what scripture, definitely, supports the position that the church will be the bride of Christ rather than Israel being the bride.
Ultimately, who is the bride of Christ?
Ultimately?
Okay.
So, well, hold your horses.
All right, because the question, what's the question?
Not who not who is ultimately?
What scripture tells us?
All right.
So that's what I want to do.
Yeah.
I mean, I mean, I mean boil down to that question, but the evidence is in scripture, I mean, obviously, that's where you want to look.
So that's what we're going to try and do what scripture definitely support.
So there are two, maybe three views of who Christ's bride is.
In fact, two views, I see all the time to serve you.
I've not seen but it's mine.
Surprise.
So there you go but we'll take a look at this in and see how you feel about it and you can hate me later if you want to first.
I do want you to know that there is no passage except in the Apocrypha that actually uses the phrase.
Exactly the bride of Christ.
There's no passage in our bike now in your pocket for the wrist.
One that says that and it talks about Christ and talks about the church.
And it talks about is really talks about the New Jerusalem, all, as a bride, and it talks about Christ, and it talks about, God talks about Christ again later on, as, as a groom, Directly.
But the phrase the bride of Christ is our definition theologically for it.
So the exact phrase the bride of Christ not found in the Bible, prices called the bridegroom and many places when you have a bridegroom, you assume there is a bride as well as well.
And certainly the bride is talked about, but never given such a title.
Okay, so when we speak of the bride of Christ, we are discussing a systematic theological interpretation when we use that phrase, the way it's worded there, okay?
So and everybody almost everybody out there talked about, cuz you guys recognize it too.
When I ask who's the bride of Christ in the Bible doesn't use that phrase nowhere.
So anyways, just a little tidbit for you as mentioned.
There are two, possibly three views of Christ's bride and I'll put it that way.
Christ's bride.
Let me just say, although strangely no one emphasized, the Book of Revelation seems to give a direct picture of the Bride coming.
That is at least worth a mention, all those seemingly ignored as a standalone possibility, by most If not why I haven't found others that have talked about this before, that's fine of Revelation 21 too and I'll put some lease versus up in the screen.
You can turn their if you want to Revelation, 20, 12 and I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven.
From God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
For whatever reason, the New Jerusalem is ignored by most if not all the theologians I've read haven't heard him talk about the big debate is always between his room to church and for good reason is there a distinction between his role in church?
We feel the Bible teaches there is so we put the focus there that there's a distinction between the two but we almost kind of throw out the baby with the bath water heater installation which is the summation of everything, right?
We get to the end, not only is the Book of Revelation, the end of God's revealing of himself everyone.
But this is the end of the book of Revelation which is the consummation of.
All right, we get to the very end.
And who's the bride described?
Jerusalem, the New Jerusalem.
Interesting.
So there you have it.
So, first thing I want you to understand, then from my perspective, this is me.
Somebody else smarter is going to come along and straighten you out one of these days, maybe it'll be even you scripture supports the New Jerusalem as a bright.
It's their Revelation talks about it.
The New Jerusalem is described later in the same chapter Book of Revelation in detail by its dimensions, and composition of a place of dwelling, for God's people, Revelation 21, 10 through 27, by the way, I did, have like, maybe for hard copies of this.
So there are four here, if you want it, it's in faith.
Like, if you can't find it in faithlife, connected to this lesson, this recorded and posted, let me know.
And I'll, I'll, I'll leave their send.
You the PDF for print, another copy for you.
Yep.
We'll get to that because that ultimately is my point at the very end of all of this.
No stupid, as our vacation, take note of that.
For all of these, take note of that for all of these, okay?
Because I think we're talkin about figures of speech, more than we are a technical label.
And I think that's where our problem resides.
So the New Jerusalem is detail by its Dimensions, its composition is a place of dwelling for God's people and that's same chapter of Revelation, 21 verses 10 through 27, although the word Jerusalem certainly channels.
Thoughts of Israel.
It is clear that the city will be for all those that God has redeemed as his people throughout the ages as stated in the next two, verses in the same chapter verses 3 and 4 of chapter 21 of Revelation.
However, this passage is a direct reference to a place, a dwelling that is the bride adorned for her husband.
They so New Jerusalem is coming down as a bride adorned for her husband.
And we know that the New Jerusalem although has a shadow or a focus on Israel itself because of the just by virtue of the name of it that it is a place in the Book of Revelation that Final consummation for eternity is a place for all people.
It's not just the place for Israel itself, so that's my point there.
Although, this description is posed in the tax, is a form of the grammatical simile.
Like Joe just pointed out as a bride adorned, is to direct of an identification to be ignored.
As a consideration for the discussion, the discussion that is.
Which one is?
It is Israel?
The bride or is the church?
The bright wild.
The New Jerusalem is just as clear comparison as the other two.
Which is interesting.
In fact, being found at least two chapters of the Bible is John describes.
The consummation of God's Eternal degree for all of creative.
History, is puzzling.
Why it is only used to support the argument for either of the two views Israel or the church, rather than a summary of defining of a the summary or the fighting statement in the Book of Revelation, be the consummation of the comparison of both earlier.
Interesting question.
My poor wife had to deal with me wrestling and pay going through this all day yesterday.
I'm, it seems imperative that this passage be given a prominent consideration.
For understanding, the identity of who is referenced as the bride We have to, at least consider it.
So, what about the other two, considerations or entities that are called The Bride? Isaiah 54:5?
Speaking of Israel, for your husband, is your maker?
Whose name is the Lord of hosts.
That is all capitals Lord.
