The Woman Question
by Kenneth Hagin
There is an all-out assault on women:
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.
24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives,
2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.
3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—
4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
Also, proverbs 31, etc...
Jordan Peterson says studies are now showing that social media, instagram in particular, attract and amplify some of the worst qualities of humanity. Literal psychopathic tendencies.
Women are idolizing and being influenced by psychopaths.
Men are looking and allowing psychopaths to determine their value and how to pursue women.
There’s no partiality with God:
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
No birth control + restricted access to information (such as the Bible) + women’s role in society =
Women couldn’t really be educated. They didn’t have a way to. Their only choice was to learn at home.
12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.
What do they think this says:
in church, a woman cannot teach or have a position where she has authority over a man.
What does it not say?
church, congregation, assembly, etc.
it doesn’t specify “woman” or “wife”.
example: Luke 20:32-33
32 Last of all the woman died also.
33 Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife does she become? For all seven had her as wife.”
it’s the exact same word: gyne
What does it say?
“I do not permit”
paul is clear, the permission comes from him, not the Holy Spirit.
he only gives permission to be in silence.
since this contradicts dozens of Biblical instructions about church, it has to only mean during the authority, teaching process.
The King James says “usurp”.
How can anyone use this to justify women not teaching? It says to be in slience!
We have to take the WHOLE verse, not just the parts we like, we have to take it IN CONTEXT, we have to study what it says & doesn’t say, and we have to view it in light of the rest of the Bible.
There isn’t a SINGLE OTHER PLACE anywhere in scripture that limits women teaching. This one is it.
This passage AND 1 Corinthians 14 are instructions to wives about conducting themselves with their husbands.
34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.
35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.
this one is easy: “your” women.
Paul was address a specific problem arising from a specific group of women in the corinthian church. they were out of order, they were not respecting Godly authority, and they were not knowledgable.
all women having to be silent in church contradicts tons of other Biblical concepts: your sons & daughters will prophesy, we all have gifts, we are all admonished to speak to one another, etc...
FULL CONTEXT:
8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,
10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.
11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.
12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
Phoebe:
1 I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea,
“servant” diakonos: deacon. Every time deacon is used in the new testament, it’s diakonos.
Phoebe was a deacon.
“I don’t care what the greek says, only the english.”
Junia:
7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
Priscilla:
3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus,
4 who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.
5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia to Christ.
26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
The Woman at the Well:
28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men,
29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
Mary Magdelene:
16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).
17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ”
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.
9 Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.
10 She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.
11 And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.
Anna:
36 Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;
37 and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
The Great Commission:
6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
->
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
the women were there and received the Holy Spirit like the men. So what did Jesus say to do once you receive the Holy Spirit?
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Every admonition about what to say at church:
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Daughters will prophecy
17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.
