Come to Jesus and Go to the World

Pick a Kid from the group and say to them:

“Come to me”

Once they come up on the stage hand them two gifts and say:

“Because you came to me, I want to give you a gift. I’m giving you this gift even though you’ve done nothing to earn this gift. It’s completely free.

Will you accept my gift?”

Then say:

“Since you accepted my gift, I want you to share with someone else. Go to that kid over there and give them a gift”

Do this at least 5 times.

Today I wanted to give aways gifts, not because it’s almost Christmas time, but because I am reminded of something I read in the Bible.

Jesus said something that I said this morning. He told many people to “Come to Him”.

Can you think of anyone in the Bible Jesus told to come to Him?

Here’s one time that I think of when Jesus was walking along the sea shore.

He saw two fisherman in a boat and He told them, “Come to me and I will make you fishers of men.”

What do you think that means?

Jesus wanted to help them. He wanted to teach them about how God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to save the world.

Jesus gave these fisherman the gift of His love.

Jesus told these fisherman that they were going to GO and share this same love other people in the world.

Let me tell you of another time that Jesus told someone to come to him.

Remember Zacchaeus? Who was He?

He wanted to see Jesus so much that he climbed a sycamore tree.

When Jesus came by, He saw Zacchaeus high in the tree, and guess what He said?

He said Zacchaeus, Come down from there, I’m coming to your house today!

Jesus told him to Come to Him.

When Jesus went to Zacchaeus house He gave Him a gift. He told him that he was going to be saved!

The exact same thing that Jesus taught the fisherman he taught the man who climbed the tree!

Zacchaeus was so excited to see Jesus that day that he made a promise to go and give back to everyone who he was unkind to in his life.

You know what? Jesus wants everyone to come to Him.

The Bible tells us that He said “Come to me, all who are tired, and I will help you rest”

Why should we come to Jesus?

Because He is the only one who can make us right with God. No one is perfect, we’ve all done bad things that have made God sad.

Jesus came to take our punishment. He died on the cross because He wanted us to be forgiven.

But to be made right we have to come to Jesus.

How do we come to Jesus?

The Bible tells us that when we Call on the Name of the Lord then we will be saved.

We come to Jesus by praying a prayer. We say, “Jesus, thank you for coming to save me. Thank you for dying on the cross to take my punishment. I come to you today by giving you my whole life.”

When we say that to Jesus, He will hear us and forgive us, and make us brand new on the inside.

When we come to Jesus, He gives us a FREE Gift. It’s a gift that we don’t deserve and we can’t earn it in anyway. We can’t pay for it because it’s not for sale.

This gift we receive from Jesus is called Salvation. We are saved from our sin when we come to Jesus. This is the greatest gift of all.

Now, once you have this great gift, what are you supposed to do?

Remember when I called kids up to the stage? What did I tell them?

Let me show you again:

“Because you came to me, I want to give you a gift. I’m giving you this gift even though you’ve done nothing to earn this gift. It’s completely free.

Will you accept my gift?”

Then say:

“Since you accepted my gift, I want you to share with someone else. Go to that kid over there and give them a gift”

Once I gave them a gift, what did I tell them to do?

I told them to GO and give someone else a gift too!

This is what Jesus wants us to do isn’t it?

He told the fisherman to come to Him so that He could teach them to GO tell other people about the good news of Jesus!

We are supposed to share the good things we have.

Jesus tells us that we are supposed to let our light shine:

What do you think that means?

If I know about the best place in the world to get a big yummy free pizza would I keep that a secret? No way! I would want everyone to know.

Listen to me boys and girls, we have the best gift ever and we are supposed to tell other people about this amazing gift.

We have the gift of God’s great love.
