Heb 12:1-3

Hebrews 12:1–3 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

We have been doing a series of messages on the HOLINESS of God.

Allow me to share some things about getting into such a message on The Holiness of God.

I am of the opinion that when a preacher preaches on a serious subject and challenges his congregation.

He must go through and live out what comes from such challenges.

Share these things .

1.CROWD IN THE CLOUDS.

We have spent a great deal of time on Who this is referring To and we have clearly established the Witnesses are those mentioned in Hebrews Chapter 11

2. WEIGHT TO UNLOAD.

Weights are a hindrances that either
a. Slow you down .
b. Stop your progress.

3. SIN TO RELEASE.

The word “Beset”

G2139

εὐπερίστατος

euperistatos

yoo-per-is'-tat-os

From G2095 and a derivative of a presumed compound of G4012 and G2476; well standing around, that is, (a competitor) thwarting (a racer) in every direction (figuratively of sin in general): - which doth so easily beset.

In one of Raphael’s pictures the clouds, when looked at minutely, are seen to be composed of little cherub-faces; and those who have already witnessed and suffered for God gather around us as a great cloud, like the crowded amphitheaters in the old Olympian games.

We are still in the arena; probably every blow and sigh are beheld and heard by the general assembly and church of the firstborn.

What an incentive to lay aside all “cumbrances”; that is, whatever in your life may be a hindrance, though hardly a sin!

But above all, we must put away the sin of unbelief, which we can best do by looking unto Jesus.

We see the best speaks of another competitor who is standing around hindering the effort of the racer,

4. RACE TO BE RUN.

5. SIGHT TO BEHOLD.

6. JOY FOR THE JOURNEY.

7.CROSS TO ENDURE.

8.SHAME TO DISPISE.

9. PLACE TO RESIDE.

10. CONTRADICTION TO CONSIDER.

11.WEARINESS TO OVERCOME.
