5. God proves the genuineness of Adam’s faith with trees.

Genesis 3:6 NASB95
6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

The Garden reborn.

1. A new Garden- Resurrection (Isaiah 11:1)

Isaiah 11:1 NASB95
1 Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

2. A new Adam- Representative (Isaiah 11:2-5)

Isaiah 11:2–5 NASB95
2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. 3 And He will delight in the fear of the Lord, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make a decision by what His ears hear; 4 But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. 5 Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins, And faithfulness the belt about His waist.

3. A new result (Isaiah 11:6-10)

6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them. 7 Also the cow and the bear will graze, Their young will lie down together, And the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den. 9 They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord As the waters cover the sea. 10 Then in that day The nations will resort to the root of Jesse, Who will stand as a signal for the peoples; And His resting place will be glorious.

Reconciliation, Restoration, & Resort:

a. Reconciles man and beast.

b. Restores the full knowledge of the Lord to the earth.

C. Builds a resort for his people and gives them rest.

Implications:

1. This is the Gospel-

Resurrection- and we must be living into it.

2. It is not good for man to be alone-

We as the bride of Christ are to join in on rebuilding the kingdom.

3. Living under the reign of Jesus requires the fear of the Lord.

Fear of the Lord- We have heard that the fear of the Lord is having reverence for the Lord. I think the best way we can understand this concept is to think of certain moments in our lives when we had feelings of fear in the presence of others: Think of fear- We feel nervous, unsure, shaken, unworthy, faint, etc. Is this not how some of you feel when you first met your wife? Maybe weak in the knees. In awe. Insecure. Others maybe felt this way in meeting someone you respected or someone famous, or standing before someone in authority. Notice the response of those in the Bible who encounter the living God. They bow, they declare how unworthy they are, they shake, they feel the weight of His presence. They acknowledge his holiness the way you acknowledge the beauty of your spouse unrehearsed and unprovoked offering it up for no reason other than it has to be said because it is the foremost thing on your mind and your tongue couldn’t help itself. Even evil (opposition) quakes in his presence. And here we are told that this stem of Jesse, Jesus, will delight, will smell with joy like the smell of a home with fresh baked cookies, the fear/respect of the Lord.
Jesus wants to teach you how to fear the Lord Psalm 34:11 “11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.”

4. Blessed Assurance-

The coming of Jesus provides us with the assurances we need to trust that God will do what he said he will do and bring this new garden to fruition.

5. Come and die and find that you truly live-

Resurrections only takes place when death has come. You must die to yourself and lay down your own rule and reign over your life.

6. Eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life-

Body and Blood of Jesus.
