Luke 2:8-21
Go Tell it on the mountains: is an African-American spiritual song, compiled by John Wesley Work Jr., dating back to at least 1865,
Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born

Go Tell it on the Mountain
It is a song about the 1st time some one was told about Jesus after His birth.
While shepherds kept their watching
O'er silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a Holy light
The shepherds feared and trembled
When, lo! Above the Earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Savior's birth
Down in a lowly manger
Our humble Christ was born
And brought us all salvation
That blessed Christmas morn

Angles went to tell it on the mountain.
they went to tell it to the Shepherds
In that day, shepherds were considered to be at the lowest rung of the social ladder. Their work not only kept them away from the temple and the synagogue, but it made them ceremonially unclean. Yet in His grace, God gave the first announcement of the Savior’s birth to lowly shepherds
“Now the Lord said The first human ambassadors of the Gospel were humble shepherds who hastened to see the Baby and then told everybody what they had seen and heard
The Gk. verb for “found” in v. 16 means “to find after a search.” The Magi had a star to guide them (Matt. 2), but all the shepherds had was the sign given them by the angel (v. 12). The shepherds, like the angels before them, glorified and praised God
What did they do when they found Jesus? They gave there testimony
Luke 2:17-18 “And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.”
