• I saw a sign that read: We’re getting married!
• All his stuff must go!
We’re in a series called Dream To Destiny. This message is different
• All of the other tests have been chronological
• This test is the 13 years between the dream and the destiny
The next 4 will be tests after he stepped into the destiny
• We keep taking these tests the rest of our lives so we can mature
• This is The Prophetic Test!
Prophecy means to speak forth by divine inspiration
• Some prophecies are conditional on our reponse
• This is MY destiny of DESTINATION for you! (Recalculating)
God says this is my destiny, my destination, for her (Recalculating)
• But if we turn off the path and go a different direction
• We end up at a different destination than God desired for us!
God spoke Joseph’s destiny (God’s desire, will) over his life.
• God creates by speaking. God looked at you and said,
• Let there be a mother and entrepenuer! (Joseph Gen. 30-50)
Psalm 105:17
He sent a man before them—Joseph—who was sold as a slave.
Psalm 105:18
They hurt his feet with fetters, he was laid in irons.
Psalm 105:19
Psalm 105:19
Until the time that his wordcame to pass, the wordof the Lord tested him.
Until the time that his word came to pass – 1439 times
• The Hebrew word is “dabar”.
• It means speech or something spoken!
The “Word” of the Lord tested him – 37 times
• This is the Hebrew word “'imrah”.
• It means the literal Word of God.
These two words are like the Greek words Logos and Rhema.
• One is the spoken word and one is the literal word!
Until his prophetic word came to pass, the literalWord of God tested him!
• This is the test of THE Word of God! (Tested, refined, proven)
Psalm 12:6
Psalm 12:6
The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver triedin a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Psalm 18:30
Psalm 18:30
As for God, His way is perfect; the wordof the LORD is proven
Does the Bible test you or do yo test the Bible?
• Is the Bible higher than your knowledge of good and evil?
• This book must become our standard! The attack against it is great!
Do you know where we learned murder was wrong? The Bible
• The difference between murder and manslaughter? The Bible
• Stealing, rape, adultery? Some religions had temple prostitutes!
Psalm 105:19 (NLT)
Psalm 105:19 (NLT)
Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character.
God tests our faith with His propheticword!
•He tests our character with His written word!
1. I submitmy word.
All prophetic words must be submitted to THE Word!
• All prophetic words are submitted to the God of the word
• Prophetic words are just a part! They are not the whole picture.
1 Corinthians 13:9
1 Corinthians 13:9
For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
Does anyone here know in full?
• Does anyone here know everything?
• Since we don’t know everything, we prophesy in part.
Prophetic words are like pieces of a puzzle.
• We still need the wisdom of others, the counsel of leadership,
• And the written, literal word of God!
Here’s the problem with prophetic words: The human element • It’s not that God didn’t speak to you!
• But wht’s your interpretation of it! Joseph’s was wrong
I had a dream about an evangelist feeling like the Lord had spoken to him that the following year was going to be a year of darkness.
• A Pastor felt like it was going to be a year of light!
• The Lord showed me that it would be a year of darkness for those not walking with the Lord and a year of light for those walking with the Lord. (9th plague)
I submit my word to His word!
• But Pastor, I have a word from God!
• I have a Word from God too!
Psalm 105:19
Psalm 105:19
Until the time that hisword came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.
Until your word comes to pass, His word is going to test you!
• If you do THE Word, then YOUR word comes to pass!
• There is an “if” and a “then” attached to every prophetic word
I know people who will never reach their destiny! They don’t tithe!
• THE Word tells us to honor God with the tithe!
• You can’t fulfill your word without doing His Word! (Submit)
2. I testmy word.
1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do not quench the Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:20
Do not despise prophecies.
1 Thessalonians 5:21
Test all things; hold fast what is good.
1 Corinthians 14:29
1 Corinthians 14:29
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
None of us is omniscient or infallible! We all need a standard!
• God’s word is the standard!
• Joseph was tested by theWord until his word came to pass!
How well do you know The Word of God?
• Do you let the Word judge you or do you judge it?
If you read something in the word that is different than your beliefs, •Do you change your beliefs?
• Don’t ever follow a prophecy that is against God’s word!
Deuteronomy 13:1
Deuteronomy 13:1
“If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,
Deuteronomy 13:2
Deuteronomy 13:2
and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods’—which you have not known—‘and let us serve them,’
Deuteronomy 13:3
Deuteronomy 13:3
you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
God tests us to see if we’ll follow THE (Literal, Written) Word of God •Our “words” from God are submitted to the God of the Word!
In Jer. 35, Jeremiah told the Rechabites to drink wine
• But they refused because it didn’t line up with the word that the Lord
• Had already given them and God used it for an example to Judah!
I can give you an example of a true prophet
• Who had a true word from God that didn’t come to pass.
• Jonah! Jonah said, “40 days and Nineveh will be destroyed!”
Was Ninevah destroyed in 40 days? No!
• Because they repented!
• The word of God is submitted to THE God of the word!
We bought a home that had a leak so it had some mold
• The remediation company tested, proved, that the mold was gone
• God’s Word is testing, proving us, for our destiny!
3. I holdmy word.
Philippians 3:12
Philippians 3:12
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
Do you believe His spoken word to you? Yes! And you should!
• Do you believe God’s written word? Yes! And we should!
• Are you holding on to the word that God has given you?
God is building our character and our faith by speaking to us and • Then allowing years to pass before the word comes to pass!
Until the prophecy comes to pass, the Bible is going to test you!
• In other words, it’s going to prepare you for the prophecy.
It’s going to test and prepare your character!
• Study it! Memorize it! Meditate on it!
• Because the Bible is the key to the prophecy coming to pass!
I came across a file entitled “Elaine’s First Prophecy”!
• Do you know what she’s doing! She’s holding onto it!
At Pink Impact, she gave a word to the ladies
• It was full of truth from the Word • She received 25 speaking invitations!
The next year she preached a full message, and received 10 invitations!
• God gave her a glimpe of her destiny and then started the tests!
On TV she said, “I have 4 kids and I work full time at the church
• If I get an hour to myself on any day
• I’m going to take a nap!”
How much of her destiny she fulfiulls will depend partially •On how well she knows this book!
• And it’s the same with you!
