The Word WAS God …
1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
What is John teaching?
· The DEITY of Jesus:
o “and the Word was with God” (“with” indicates there was more than one person).
o “and the Word was God.”
Word = 3056 λόγος [logos /log·os/]
· Living voice, reckoning, divine reason
· the personal wisdom and power in union with God, to minister in creation and govern the universe,[1]

o His DISCIPLES worshipped Jesus during the ASCENSION (Luke 24:52)
· Jesus is worshipped by the ANGELS in heaven (Hebrews 1:6)
· Jesus is worshipped by the CITIZENS in HEAVEN (Revelation 5:8-14; 7:9-10)
