Today is our second Sunday of Advent.
and I did find a child to come up here and Light, the candle with me.
So Eli.
Come on up the man-child Eli.
Right.
I asked him if he would, he said, sure.
So he's going to come up here and he's going to light two candles for me.
You stand right in the middle there and make me look good.
All right, so Eli has been in this church is whole life, right?
It's a long time.
He's a junior.
This year, will be a senior next year.
Good Lord willing right.
Grades are good enough for that, okay, monitor yesterday, but no, you like Eliza?
Special kid.
I think they know Church having grown up with us and been apart but he's been doing this for a few years with me.
So I've mentioned last year last week that the out, some of these kids are grown up me, not want to do it, sister's back door, taking pictures.
All look at her right?
Some big sister taking pictures a little brother but our net worth lighting is the candle of Love.
Last week was hope today is his love for God.
So loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting.
Like that last song that we sang together.
You know what to bring all your problems, bring all your issues, the dependencies that we have on the things of the world, bring those to look at the gods, sometimes we look up on people and we see them as humans and we, we say well, there is no way, you know, I want anything to do with you.
But those are the people that God sent his son to die for, right?
So we need to be reaching out, to those around us who are had some of those issues or problems with drawing them towards Christ?
Loving them, the way that Christ has loved us.
So today, as we light, the candle of Hope from last week and today the candle of love for this week.
Let's pray.
Father we thank you we thank you for the love that you give us.
We don't deserve it.
We know we can do nothing to earn it but you gave your son as a love gift to the world that whosoever believes in Him.
Should not perish but have everlasting life.
Father, help us to take that love and share in the world that we live in guidance and direct us today.
In Jesus name we pray.
Amen.
Thank you, Eli.
Grab your bible, start with me this morning, if you will have John chapter 1, John chapter 1,
What we find in our messy today is the Christmas love.
Is that God comes to us.
He comes to us and not only does it come for us when he comes or come to us, but he comes for us.
So he comes to us.
He comes for us.
And I wanted this morning to look let these two Simple Truth encourages.
The trust is faithfulness.
I don't know about you.
I've been in church all my life, grew up in church, been to church.
Every Sunday sometimes twice on Sunday, Wednesday night's growing up.
And in church that we would do that Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night, other meetings that we would have that.
We would have those what we used to call Revival meetings.
Remember those days of old me, we can't get people out to those anymore.
I guess we're all revived enough, but that we would have those Revival meeting.
We have a guest speaker, come in and try to encourage everybody to go out in and to witness to the family and friends.
Lost loved ones and bring them into the house of God, but our world has gotten to the point where Christians have gotten very busy and it's tough to do those things anymore.
Get attendance, your wallet shouldn't be about, you know, numbers in, no, it's not about numbers but it is about community and working together and understanding how the body works, when the body does not work correctly, it doesn't just affect that.
Parted affects every other aspect but These two truths.
The god comes to us, and he comes for us.
Should encourage us, he has never and he will never leave you.
Aren't you glad for that?
He says, I will never leave you nor forsake you If we're his child and he's our father he will not leave us.
So John begins here in chapter one of his gospel he began his gospel quite differently from the rest of the gospel writers if you will.
The rest started with historical accounts of the events that took place.
Here's what's going on.
In in Matthews today, here's what's going on in Mark's.
Dave.
Here's what's going on at Luke's.
Matthew and Luke talked about the circumstances leading to Jesus birth.
Many of you may have started reading Luke chapter 1.
The Book of Luke chapter 1 on the first day of December and as you get to the 24th, if you get to the Christmas story and Dolls, water begins to work out.
Mark, started off with Jesus entering into Ministry.
he also talked about how John the Baptist was preaching, and Preaching repentance and preparing the people.
To change their heart for faith in Jesus.
Matthew, Mark and Luke all stars out of storytellers but not John.
John launch straight into the purpose of his writing and his first 14 verses that we find here in John chapter one, we're going to read them this morning and then we'll dive into my message.
John 1:1 says, in the beginning, was the word.
The word was with God and the Word was who God, he was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through him and without him was nothing made, that was made in him was life.
And the life was the light of men and the light shines in darkness.
And the Darkness did not comprehend it There was a man sent from God whose name was John.
This man came for a witness to Bear witness of the light that all through him might believe he was not that light but was sent to Bear witness of that light.
That was the True Light, which gives light to every man coming into the world.
He was in the world in the world was made through him in the world.
Did not know him.
He came to his own and his own did not receive him.
But as many as received him to them, gave he the right to become the children of God to those who believe in his name.
Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of, man.
But of God, and the word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the Glorious of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth.
Let's pray.
Father, this morning as we look into your word open, our hearts, open your mind to the truth of your word.
That God comes to us and God comes for us.
There's a purpose.
There's a plan that God has put together for the best of mankind and yet many times we think that we've got better ideas or better thoughts than what the creator of this world could ever come up with because we begin changing his plans and changing his ways.
And God may allow us to do that but in the end, he has his way in his plan is accomplished.
Father help us.
The trust you to see us through in each and every day of our lives, every moment that you have given us is a faith moment.
When we put our faith in our trust, in you, to follow you in to do the things that you have called us to do.
Gaidas.
You know, the need to know the burdens.
We lift up those who are sick among us.
We ask that you put your hand up on them and he'll them touch their bodies and their lives.
In Jesus name, we pray Amen.
