The Lord is Personal (46-49a)

Mary praised the Lord because His personal involvement in her life!
God’s personal involvement brought unexpected blessing!
The angel called her by name, and greeted her as “highly favored”.
Luke 1:30-31 “And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.”
Mary praised the Lord because His salvation is personal!
She rejoiced in “God my Savior”. She recognized her need for the one that she was carrying to redeem her soul.
Mary praised the Lord because of His great work on her behalf.
Christmas (the incarnation) means that God has personally come to redeem you.

The Lord is Merciful (49b-50)

“Holy is His Name” - He is separate, the essence of moral purity. He is superior to all others.
“Holy, Holy, Holy” is the continual cry of the seraphim before the throne of God.
God, in His holiness, is merciful toward those that fear Him.
Mary was filled with the sense of wonder and awe that the Holy Lord of the Universe would seek to dwell within her!
Psalm 103:17-18 “But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.”

The Lord is Powerful (51-53)

“He has shown strength with his arm”
Mary is speaking as though the Lord’s salvation has already been accomplished! And it is as good as completed because He had promised it.
His power was shown in the miraculous conception of the Lord Jesus.
Luke 1:34-35 “And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.”
God did not come to the powerful on earth. He did not work through the rulers in their might. He demonstrated His power by using the lowly, the humble, the hungry!
Luke 1:36-37 “And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.””

The Lord is Faithful (54-55)
