Eph 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

2 tim 2:1 “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

Joshua is told to be strong and very courageous

the power of his might or his mighty power

verse 12

this is not a worldly but a it is spiritual

Verse 14

The breastplate protects our front by us trusting in the word of God this word must surround us and we must submerge our selves in the word

Verse 15

we need secure footing in spiritual conflicts, this is supplied by the gospel, appropriated (something that you have studied and received for your growth) and proclaimed

Verse 16

The shield carried on the left arm and maneuvered to repel attacks

the shield would catch fiery darts but they did not penetrate the body

The shield of faith puts out fiery darts out

we must have faith in God

1Peter 5:8-9 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

is it faith in God or faithfulness to God

faith is the best defense

Verse 17

The helmet is our protection

Rev. 19:15 “And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

The Epistles to the Colossians, to Philemon and to the Ephesians (6.

“Be Strong in the Lord” (6:10–17))

noted that no armor was provided for the back, so that at the approach of Christian had no option but “to venture and stand his ground.”
