2 Tim 1:13-14 “Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.”
This is Paul’s second letter to Timothy - someone he’s taught carefully and raised up in the faith.
and Paul tell’s him to “guard the good deposit” - in other words he’s saying “I’ve taught you thoroughly… now remember what I’ve said.”
don’t waiver on the truth of the Lord. Hold steady.
you all are being taught, carefully, thoroughly.
this is no little thing what’s happening around you.
your parents, your pastors, your teachers, your church have labored carefully and sacrificed to create this school - FOR YOU to give you this teaching
your teachers work hard to pour into you the truth of God that you hear each and every day
we work hard that you may know God’s words, and be able to teach them and carry them on to the generations that come after us.
Guard it. Guard the good deposit.
As you get up and get ready and start another week… guard the good deposit.
realize the depth of the work being done to give you a better start,
listen to your teachers, hear and heed those words, grow in your knowledge of the truth...
and guard.
Know it. Know it inside and out. And do not waiver. Don’t be tossed too and fro. Think, reason, and guard it.
and one day - you’ll pass it on to your children.
