Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel. 15  Butter and honey shall he eat, That he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers and Saints of God the important, significant and pertinent circumstances that surround the Messiah’s Miraculous, Majestic, Mystical, and even Magical moments in biblical history, is still one of the greatest Mysteries in all of the bible.

As we teach, talk, and tell the story about Jesus’ Birth there are a multiplicity of angles, and ways, and views that scripture give us to interpret His Miraculous Birth.

It’s not easy to tell an unbelieving person to accept that the virgin Mary gave birth to God’s Son, And that the Process was through The Incarnate Conception; Whereas the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary and she became pregnant with God’s Son.

And my proof in making this apologetic argument is in the bible in Isaiah 7: 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.

Brothers and sisters this is the authentic word of God, as it pertains to the future prophecy of Jesus the Christ,our Savior. I looked up the Name Immanuel in the Greek vernacular and the text says and it is another name for Christ. And So we could say Emmanuel Christ, and it would be the same as saying Jesus Christ. Then in the Hebrew vernacular the word Immanuel means With Us is God, Turn it around and it;s God with Us. Yes Indeed. Teach Me Pastor.

Then there is the part of the text that says in verse 14 That the Lord gave us a sign. The bible is loaded with sign of the coming of the Messiah. Give give me a minute to walk you through some of the signs that God gave us.

Well In Genesis Immanuel Jesus is the seed of the woman

In Exodus Immanuel He’s the Passover Lamb.

In Leviticus Immanuel He’s the High Priest

In Numbers Immanuel He’s the Shekenah Glory

In Deuteronomy Immanuel He’s the True Prophet,

In Joshua Immanuel He’s the Captain of our Salvation,

In Judges Immanuel He’s the Delivering Judge,

In Ruth Immanuel He’s our Kinsman Redeemer,

In I& 2 Samuel and in I&2 Kings and in I & 2 Chronicles Immanuel He’s the True King because Immanuel is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, in

In Ezrah & Nehemiah Immanuel He’s our Restorer ,

In Job Immanuel He’s our Horse pawing in the Valley,

In Psalms Immanuel He’s our book of Songs

In Proverbs Immanuel He’s our Wisdom

In Ecclesiastes Immanuel He’s the lover of Our Souls.. God gave us signs all through out the bible Because

In Isaiah Emanuel He is God with Us. Teach Me Pastor.

And so in Isaiah 7:14 The text says that The Lord himself shall give us a sign Amen?

And then the text clearly says “Behold, a virgin shall conceive”. This is prophecy about Mary being the Theotokos meaning the Mother of God. The Bearer of God’s only begotten Son. And for the record I believe that Mary is Mother of God and I believe the statement Blessed is the Fruit of thy womb Jesus. Let me back it up. Because Isaiah 7:14 says and bear a son!!! yes indeed.

This signifies that Jesus was Human as well as Divine, because Mary was Human right? So we can conclude that Jesus had a human side to Him.

1. Jesus had a Human Body because Luke 2:7 says that Mary brought forth her first born son and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes.

2. Jesus had a Human Mind because the Bible says in Luke 2:52 that Jesus increased in wisdom and stature meaning that he went through a learning process just as all other children went through. And then

3. Jesus had a Human Soul and Human Emotions because John 12:27 say that Jesus’s soul was troubled when He knew the Price He was about to paid for the sins of Mankind.

And then Jesus was Divine because the Christian Church holds the position that Jesus’ birth was an Incarnate Conception meaning that Jesus was God in Human Flesh as well as Divine. Let me explain how it went, God the Son took upon Himself a Human Nature and dwelled among men.

1. The Word God or Theos was used to describe Christ. In John 1:1 In the Beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Every time we see the Word Word it’s referring to the LOGOS The Logos refers to spoken word of God and And God the Son is the Spoken Word, Because the bible says that the Word Jesus the Christ became flesh and dwelling among men. Jesus was Divine!

2. The Word Lord or Kyrios was Used to describe Christ because in Luke 2:11 the Angel Gabriel declared “for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

“Glory to God”. Hallelujah Praise the lord Somebody ought to shout with me. And then

3. Christ’s strongest claim to Divine Deity found in John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. Wait wait wait, I remember seeing those words somewhere else in the bible. In Exodus 3:14 God revealed Himself to Moses and said tell them all that I AM that I AM sent you. That’s deep because Jesus gave proof that He was the Divine Deity sent from Heaven to save mankind from their sins.

And so our theme text say in Isaiah 7:14 and bear a son. God the Son is Human and Divine therefore making Him the Monogenes God 100% Human and 100% Divine at the same time.

And then the last part of verse 14 says and shall call His name Immanuel. Call His name Immanuel. With us Is God, and that’s the good news. it’s really a type of Gospel, because the text declares that God is with us. And when God is with you, God is with you. Tell your neighbor: God is with Us

In Genesis 12:2 God was with Abraham God said “Abraham I will make thee a great nation”.

In Exodus 3:12 God told Moses I will be with you and help you lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. When God is with you He’s with you.

In Joshua 1:5 God told Joshua As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I’ll never leave you nor forsake you.

In 2 Samuel 7:9 God told king David I have been with you wherever you have gone and I have cut off your enemies from before you.

There are many other instances of God with us but we stopped at King David because Jesus is a direct descendent of King David. Of the Davidic Offspring because,

Jesus’ stepfather Joseph and His mother Mary were direct descendents of King David, And Immanuel, Jesus the Christ brings the perfect, pious, powerful, precision to the image of the invisible God, Because Colossians 1:15 tells us that Christ is The firstborn over all creation.

Because He was born in manger in Bethlehem and it was the first time that Immanuel God with us was truly among us fully human and fully divine.

We know that Immanuel means God with Us right?. But what you may not know is that when this text was written Isaiah was addressing King Ahaz. Ahaz was a heathen king. When Isaiah the Prophet gave the forth telling news of the Name Immanuel Ahaz didn’t bid more care about that name, than the man on the moon.

And some people just don’t care about how much you talk about your Jesus, Your Christ, your Messiah your Immanuel, and the reason is because they truly don’t believe that God is with us. I know with out a doubt that God is with us.

Isaiah told King Ahaz, king! you’re making friends with our enemies and that isn’t going to help us at all. Only Immanuel, God with Us is going to be our help and our true deliverer.

Tell your neighbor: Only God can help us.

In this biblical narrative, The House of David was threatened at that time in biblical antiquity and the future vision of the coming Prince of Peace in itself was the only reassuring thing. And even in 2022 the Only reassuring thing is the Prince of Peace

The Sar Shalom the Prince of Peace.

And lastly the sign by God had immediate value because verse Isaiah 7 :15 says “Butter and honey shall he eat”, The importance and significance and the pertinent facts are that proper food with a proper diet with a proper focus on what’s being fed..... will do wonders for the human soul and spirit.

It’s good to be in a bible led, bible fed, and bible teaching church where you can grow properly.

And notice the bible says that this Immanuel will eat Butter and Honey. Um um good. Yea because the psalmist says Oh taste and see that the Lord of Good!!! We know that these scriptures are all predicting the birth of Jesus Christ the Messiah.

Well it is proper to assume and confer and predict that the human side of the Jesus the Christ Emanuel in the NT was eating the best foods for a healthy diet.

I know I’m right about it because later in the Christmas story the word of God tell us that Wise men came and gave Jesus Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. All of those items are expensive so we know that Jesus didn’t eat potted meat and crackers, Jesus didn’t eat Vienna sausage and wieners , but according to prophecy Immanuel 3x He ate Butter and honey.

Butter and honey are symbols of prosperity, symbols of a healthy diet, and symbols of knowledge and wisdom.

But brother Pastor How do you know that Butter and Honey are symbols of knowledge and wisdom?

I know because the bible tells me so, Look at the last part of verse 15

“That he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good”. Yes indeed. A Proper Diet of the word of God will inform you on how to choose right from wrong.

Let me make it plain David said Lord thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sins against God.

And Proper Diet of the word of God is in Psalms 37 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

And Proper Diet of the word of God is in Psalms 1:1-2 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the lord and in His law he meditates day and night.

Another word for a Proper Diet is Psalms 12:6 The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.

Another important ingredient for A Proper Diet that I want to share with Pilgrim BC is this commandment “Love one another as Christ have also Loved you and gave Himself for us”. That’s Butter and Honey.

Because God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Is there anybody in here that believe in Jesus today. I believe in Jesus because he teaches me how to discern between right and wrong between good and evil.

The original text says in Isaiah 7:14-15 14.Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.

15. Butter and honey shall he eat, That he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
