When God comes knocking at your door.

This season is the celebrations of the birth of Jesus Christ. We have just heard the story from the children and i believe they said the story the way it should be said. They did an awesome job.
But you see when Jesus was born that was just the beginning, it was not the end. And the story continues. Jesus was sent to this earth to be born as a humble man. The God of the universe, our Lord, our God made himself man.
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Our God was made sin for us, for you and me, that through Him we might be made righteous.
Think about that for a second.
In Isaiah 9:6-7 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, Upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, To order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice From henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
This prophecy was made 700 years before the birth of Christ.
The tables were turning, the script was written, the servants were put in place way before our time.
700 years later, we have a child born unto us and His name is Jesus.
Just like that script was written, your script was written as well. You just need to accept the role our heavenly Father has place you here for.
What we call the greatest gift is the most illegal, hateful, event that ever took place. That event was the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You see Jesus went to the Cross as an innocent man, He was not guilty of any sin.
However, what made him guilty was your sin, my sin, our sin.
So the sin of the world, again your sin, my sin, our sin was placed upon His head.
He carried our sin in order that we might have the righteousness of Him who sent the Son.
I want you to turn your Bible to Luke 5.
V1. Pressed- The word pressed mean to be insistent. They wanted the word of God.
The multitude wanted to hear Jesus. How many of us want Jesus that bad. We will do anything to hear His word.
As believers, how many times do we want to hear from God. How many times do we make ourselves available to hear from God.
Or are you the type of believer that only listens when something is going wrong in your life. Yes you can come to church be born in the church and still not have a relationship with God.
Many people go to church year after year after year and are not saved.
Just because you go to church three times a week does not mean your saved. Just because you serve does not mean your saved, just because your parents are Christians does not mean your saved. Just because you were born and have always gone to church doe not mean your saved.
As a believer do you at times give our Lord the silent treatment. You are so busy with life you forget there is a God.
My mom this, my dad that, my son, my daughter. everything goes before the Lord.
I can’t tell you how many families have left the church because their children.
How bad do you want to be in front of our God,.
I find this interesting, Jesus gets on a boat goes out a little and starts speaking to the multitude.
I wonder, what kind og speakers they were using, I wonder what kind of Mic they had. I wonder what type of mixer they were using. I wonder how the cables were ran to the ships or boats.
The truth is that none of the above was true. There were no such thing as speakers or mics, or cables.
Jesus just sits down and starts speaking.
When the word of God goes out, it touches peoples heart.

The legacy of Christ is not tension, but peace.

The legacy of Christ is not war, but peace.

The legacy of Christ is not advice about peace, it is peace!

Let Jesus In

Once I heard this story concerning King Edward VII of England. He and his queen were out walking late one afternoon when suddenly she stumbled and sprained an ankle. In great pain, and with considerable difficulty, she limped along, holding to her husband’s shoulder. At dusk, they approached the home of a humble man. The king knocked on the door. “Who’s there?” came the query.

“It is Edward. It is the king. Let me in.”

The man on the inside shouted back, “Enough of your pranks now. Be off.…”

The king, not being accustomed to such language, was shocked. He hardly knew what to do, but he knocked a second time. The cottager inquired, “What do you want?”

“I tell you it is the king! It is Edward, your king. Let me in.”

In anger the man shouted, “I’ll teach you to torment an honest man trying to get his sleep.” He threw open the door in disgust, only to see that indeed it was his king! With profuse apologies the laborer invited the royal visitors in and sent for help to attend his queen.

Years later, when the Britisher was too old to work, he would spend much time rocking on the porch and visiting with neighbors. He took great delight in reviewing that experience, always concluding with the same words: “And to think, to think, I almost didn’t let him in! To think I almost didn’t let him in!”

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me” (Rev. 3:20).

Not until you open your heart and let Jesus in will you know what God is like.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Proverbs 30:5 “Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”
If we accept the word of God and listen to it, then our lives will be made whole.
Do you have issues in life.
Do you have challenges in your marriage?
Do you have challenges at work?
Do you have challenges with children or grandchildren?
Do you feel without an exit?
Sometimes even Christians feel this way.
We let life get in the way of our relationship with our God.
We have to remember who we serve.
We serve the almighty God. The true and living God.
Just as He has the universe in the palm of his hand so he also has out lives in the palm of His hands.
He is in control
When something goes wrong, remember that is according to our eyes and not to His.
His ways are not our ways and our ways are not His ways.
When we might be thinking we are facing a hardship, God might be saying this will benefit you greatly.
We must put our trust in Him and not allow our flesh to get in the way.
We see the people here pressed Jesus to hear the word.
Jesus sits down, he didn’t need to stand up and speak to a crowd. He actually sat down and spoke to the crowd.
The word of God goes to every ear, and the people hear exactly what God wants them to hear.
I am amazed when someone comes up to me and tells me what they heard from the message.
In my mind I am saying; that had nothing to do with the message. But I know that the Lord wanted to speak to them in that area of their life no matter what I said. I say praise God.
That is the power of God, reaching out to the people and meeting them where they are.
Everyone of you is thinking of something in your life in which God is speaking to you right now.
All you have to do is listen.
As Jesus speaks to the crowd they are being filled with the Spirit.
As you are sitting there right now, the Lord is speaking to you. And your spirit is being filled and renewed. That is the word of God.
