And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Introduction.
Introduction.
I’m not preaching my Christmas sermon tonight, but I was inspired to this thought after having already prepared another, I pray its a blessing to you.
Deity in the Details
The beauty of a great painting is not in the frame. Many great artists painted portraits of famous women, yet the Mona Lisa is considered a masterpiece. Not because of it’s place in a famous museum. Not because kings and presidents have stood before it and gazed upon it, but because of the details. The little smile, the realism. We don’t even know who the woman was, but we know the artist, because of his work.
Leonardo Da Vinci expressed himself in his masterpiece. Jehovah God did the same thing.
When you look at the painting you say “that is Da Vinci”. When you look at the Son of God you say “That is Jehovah”.
Bro. Branham says this about a little church he was preaching in:
Now you’ve got the humility here. You’ve got the Gospel here in Utica. You may be, as I said, in the minority. But what do you come to hear here? Do you come just to say, “I go to church”? Do you come just to hear our gracious brother? That’s all good. But let’s do something more than that. Let’s come to take Christ.
Let’s come, to leave here tonight with Him. Let’s go out to defy everything that’s wrong, cut away. Jawbone, whatever it is in your hand, fight with it. God used simple things, with anointed hands. You’ve got simple works; a simple, little city; a simple, little people; a simple, little church. A simple Gospel, but It’s anointed.
The great mighty Jehovah Who thundered in yonder, Who made the stars and the solar systems, Who made the earth out of things which does not appear, spoke it into existence, but, when He come to visit mankind, He didn’t ride down on golden chariots. But He chose to come to a little hillside stable, and His birth was in a cattle manger.
Simple things, but from that manger came Emmanuel. What went you out to see? What strikes the world today? What’s the greatest calling card in America? What’s the greatest calling card of the world? What’s the greatest thing of all ages and all time? Is the Life and the Spirit of a baby that was born in a manger, in a stable on the side of a hill.
Simple things! Simple things! It’s placed into your hand, church. Now take the Anointing and use It right. 59-1001 - What Went Ye Out To See?
Detail Definition:
1. extended treatment of or attention to particular items
2. the small elements that collectively constitute a work of art
People used to say “God is in the details”. Now they say “the devil is in the details”. The little things that go unnoticed.
Deity expressed in the detail of a baby.
Listen how Bro. Branham puts it:
When that first little, toothless mouth opened in that manger, on that first crib…first Christmas morning, in His little manger crib, and the first little yell that went from His voice, that was God crying.
Jehovah crying, a man; come from God, and was man, every wit, man. Come to the world with nothing, but still man. What was He trying to do? What was He purposing?
He cried like a baby, in the manger. He played like a boy, on the street. He toiled like a man, but yet He was Immanuel. This is the super sign. God dwelling in the creation that He created. The super sign, “It shall be a sign unto you.” 59-1227M - A Super Sign
He could’ve come a full man, but He chose to come a Baby. He could’ve been borned in a palace. He could’ve been created in the Heavens if He wanted to. But He chose to come, not to even a bed to be born.
He went to a manger, on a manure pile, and over a manure pile He chose to be born. It ought to be attractive. Jehovah crying like a baby, Jehovah playing like a boy, Jehovah toiling like a man, oh, it’s a great mystery.
It’s a super sign to the people. Everybody wanting signs, that’s the greatest sign that God ever made, when God become flesh and dwelled among men. A super sign.
Surely it would attract the people. But they get carnal, go away, “Oh, yes, I guess that’s all right.” Oh, it’s more than all right. It’s God’s perfection working, making Himself, crossing His cast, making a tent and living in His tent, stretching out among us and living like we do.
Amen. God, here it is, but it don’t attract attention. The church gets carnal and bypasses, goes over it, gets away from these great things. 60-0723 - Speak To The Rock And It Shall Give Forth His Water
God expressing His perfection in a helpless baby.
Let’s read more about that perfection:
When God, the Creator of heavens and earth, made the solar system. Stand out there at Mount Palomar and look through that scope yonder, and you can see a hundred and twenty million years of light space.
Break that down in miles, and beyond that’s still moon, and stars, and worlds, and He made them all. Just blowed them off His hands, like that. Yes!
And that great Creator became my Saviour. Come down to a little Blood cell, not through a man, but come virgin to a woman; and took this little pollen from the woman, and formed Himself a little house and lived in it.
Oh, it ought to be striking! Jehovah! Jehovah, over a pile of manure in a barn, crying. Jehovah, in a manger of straw. That’s an everlasting sign, some of these big-headed people! Jehovah, God, a crying Baby (Hallelujah!) in a stinking stable.
And then we think we’re somebody, stick your nose up; it’d rain, it’d drown you; and then go along thinking you’re somebody. And Jehovah laying in a stable, over a pile of manure, crying like any little baby.
It ought to be striking! That’s a sign. God said, “I’ll give you an everlasting sign.” That’s a real sign. Jehovah, playing as a boy. Jehovah! Jehovah, working in a workshop, sawing wood like a carpenter. Hallelujah! My, oh, my! Jehovah, washing the feet of fishermen. “I’ll give you a sign.”
“I’ll give you an everlasting sign.” Jehovah, standing in the courtyards with spit on His face. Jehovah, stretched up naked, in a body, between heavens and earth. He despised the shame of the cross.
Oh, that bunch of hypocrites when that hour come! This is the day of man, the day of the Lord’s coming. Jehovah! Jehovah, dying, yes, nothing happened. Jehovah, praying, nothing happened. Hmm.
That’s right. It ought to be striking! That’s an everlasting sign. That’s the sign that all men would know. Then He died, Jehovah died. Then the earth begin to shake. Oh, my!
Then He rose up from the grave and ascended on High. Jehovah, returning in the form of the Holy Ghost to live in His Church, among His people. Glory!
Jehovah, walking down through the church, discerning the thoughts of the mind. Jehovah, healing the sick. Jehovah, speaking through lips till the man hasn’t got no control of hisself. Jehovah, coming back in English and translating it.
You want a sign? Amen! That Jehovah come down to a prostitute, rise her up, where she’s so low-down till the dogs won’t look at her, and wash her white as snow and give her a heart as pure as a lily.
Oh, my! Jehovah, taking a drunkard laying there in the alley and the flyblows all over his mouth, and making him preach the Gospel.. The Blood of Jesus Christ cleansing us!
When He was on earth, He went to the lowest city there was, and to the lowest people there was, and they give Him the lowest name there was. That’s right. They treated Him the worst, and called Him the worst name that could be called, “Beelzebub,” a devil. The lowest they could give Him, man give Him.
But God raised Him up, and He give Him a Throne so high till He has to look down to see Heaven. Amen! Glory! And give Him a Name above every name that’s mentioned in Heaven and in the earth, and all the family in Heaven and earth is named after Him.
That’s what man thought of Him; that’s what God thought of Him. O God, let my thoughts be like Yours, Father. Yes, sir. O precious Name! 60-1206 - The Smyrnaean Church Age
Deity is still in the details.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Murmurings:
Lexham Theological Wordbook γογγυσμός
γογγυσμός (gongysmos). n. grumbling, murmuring, complaint. Refers to the act of expressing one’s internal reaction to a situation, either to oneself or to others.
Disputings:
A Pocket Lexicon to the Greek New Testament διαλογισμός
διαλογισμός, a calculation, reasoning, thought, movement of thought, deliberation, plotting.
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Deity is no longer in the manger.
The Deity of Him. Who is He? Some of them makes Him a little baby back there. He is the One that stood on the invisible, oh, my, platform, raked out His hands, and spoke and said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. That was Jesus Christ.
“For He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world recognized Him not.” He was…He is the Deity of God. Look what He did back there. Talk about the miraculous back there; you talk about shouting? When He performed the miraculous things, to make things which are now, out of things which was not, He spoke and it was so.
And that same Power, that same Christ! Hallelujah! Let the fundamentalists, let them people who deny the Power of God, say It’s wrong, but that same Power that spoke the world into existence is in those people that’s got the Holy Ghost.
That’s right. Men and women, it’s time that we found out who you are. The devil is trying to hide you back, tell you that you’re some little cowed-down something. You’re not. You are sons and daughters of God. The Deity is not in Heaven; it’s in you. Hallelujah!
I know you think I’m crazy, but let me tell you something, brother: When you realize that Almighty God lives in you, immortal Life, “My Life I give, Zoe,” the Life of God is in the human being!
He stood back there, He’s the Creator of all things. He made life; frogs, oh, bees, ducks, chickens, animals, created everything. “And nothing was made but what was made by Him.” Who? Christ, the Deity!
“He brought down plagues, and everything in the days of Egypt.” Who? Christ! “He stopped the mouths of lion. He quenched the violence of fire. They escaped the edge of the sword. They raised the dead from the grave.” Who? Christ! Oh, my, what will it be! Who is He? Christ, the Deity!
And, brother, sister, that Deity is in you. “A little while and the world seeth Me no more. Yet you shall see Me, for I’ll be with you, even in you, to the end of the age.” Christ in the manger? No. Christ in you!
Hallelujah! We’re not worshipping Christ in the manger, but Christ in you, the Holy Ghost, the hope of Life, hallelujah, the Creator, God Himself dwelling in the human being. 49-1225 - The Deity Of Jesus Christ
You might say, Bro. Ben, you don’t know me. I couldn’t be that.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
What is important is not the frame or the gallery, its the detail of the creation which reveals the creator.
The Gospel writers didn’t have to use great words to describe Him, they just wrote down what He did, and it was Jehovah.
We cannot serve Him any better, or reflect Him in a greater way, than in the details of our lives. How we treat our spouse. How we care for people. How we stand for the Word when no one is watching. How we put Him first even when life is chaotic.
The little things we do in church. the little things we do at home. When we are filled by the Holy Spirit those things become a reflection of Deity to the World.
(Tell story of little girl waving the flag)
But it isn’t so with our King! Oh, the least little thing we do, He sees it. And He knows the very things and thoughts that’s in our hearts, whatever we do, what little it is. And how do we serve Him? As we serve each other. If I don’t love you, how can I love Him? Insomuch as you’ve done unto these My little ones, you have done it unto Me.” 65-0206 - Doors In Door
Conclusion.
Conclusion.
How can I live my everyday life, so the details will reveal Christ? Only by walking in the Spirit, and fully surrendering to the Word.
