I. The Mission’s Personnel vs. 39-45

A. Mary was a young pregnant girl, who at that time was probably scared to death. She knew what Yahweh had told her to do, but she wasn’t sure of how it would be recieved. The gospel message isn’t always accepted as we’d like.
B. Elizabeth was her cousin. An older woman who was pregnant, with a husband who could not speak Elizabeth shows us that we cannot put an age of where we can or cannot serve God.
C. Jesus and John the Baptist are in the womb at this time, but this shows us the connection, and what they will do.

II. The Mission’s Praise vs. 46-49

A. Mary praises God for Him using somebody like her. Remember the Lord doesn’t need you, but He wants to use you. We need Him, and the only way to be used of God is to have an attitude of humility and praise.
B. She praises Yahweh for what He is going to do.
C. She praises the Lord for who He is!

III. The Mission’s Purpose vs. 50-56

A. God is showing mercy, by coming to save us. He didn’t have to do that.
B. Both Jesus and John the Baptist would turn the religious world on its head. It wasn’t about rules, looks, or tradition, the gospel would go to the least of these. He would make us walking and talking temples. He would fill us with the Holy Spirit. John 6:33-35
John 6:33–35 NASB95
“For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, always give us this bread.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NASB95
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
C. Jesus would fulfill the long awaited promises of the Father. He always fulfills His promises to us. Be patient.
D. Mary prepares for 3 months to face the hard task before us. We need to spend time preparing in prayer, and rest in order to prepare to go out into the world with the gospel.
