This morning if you have your Bible with you or you have your favorite Bible app on your phone or device I want to invite you to turn to the book of Mathew chapter 4.
The book of Matthew is the first book in the New Testament and at the the beginning of Chapter 4 is the famous part of Scripture where Jesus is led out to the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil. That’s another topic and a sermon for another day but here why find Jesus fasting and praying about the beginning of His ministry.
Jesus had not yet begun His earthly ministry and we find Him fasting and praying about His upcoming ministry.
From the very beginning it was and has been God’s design that Jesus Christ rule the world. Satan however shows up on the scene in Matthew 4 and begins taking Jesus around and offers him two pictures.
when Jesus is about to call two of His future disciples, Simon and Andrew. And we're reading from verse 18, the Gospel of Matthew 4, it says, "Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, "Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother, "casting a net into the sea for they were fishermen. "Then he said to them, 'Follow me "'and I will make you fishers of men.' "They immediately left their nets and followed Him." Now in the book of Hebrews, it says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. And that means that if He called His disciples back then by saying, "Follow me." He calls us today in the same way, by saying, "Follow me." And of course we want to respond to that calling, don't we? I guess we all, all over this church, and all over the locations, you've sometimes prayed that prayer, Lord, I wanna follow you. And we have sung the songs ♪ I have decided to follow Jesus. ♪ We wanna respond to that calling of Jesus. However, there is one very important question that a lot of times we fail to ask, but where is he going? Because if you're really serious about following someone for the rest of your a life, it should be of interest, where that person is going. Because if you mean business with your commitment, you're gonna end up where that person's gonna end up, that person's destination will become your destination
