John 3:16 ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Eternal life will be in the kingdom of Heaven

Disciples Ask the big question Who is the Greatest

Matthew 18:1-5 “At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me,”

Adults want to know who is the best or the greatest

we want to know what we can do to be the greatest

we want our kids to be the best

we invest all kinds of money and time for them to be the best at sports, shooting, music, dance, band, showing.

on an eternal scall - things that mean nothing

the disciples wanted to know who was the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven

Jesus’s Answer = a child

2. you must be child like

represent humility

they are lest

they cant do much for us.

You have to come to a place of humility before Christ and realize you can’t do one thing to get into heaven except to believe in Christ Jesus

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

They are teachable

They are trusting

They look to their fathers and mothers to meet there needs.

Children trust their entire live to us.

John 3:3 “Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.””

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Do you have faith like a child

Do you believe in Jesus like a child.

Its one thing to have an intellectual knowledge of Him and believe He is real.

The demon believe he is the son of God.

Matthew 8:28-30 “And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” Now a herd of many pigs was feeding at some distance from them.”

maybe you made an emotional decision about Jesus at a camp

James 2:19 “You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!”

The demons had an emotional response to Christ also.

Whats different about child like faith.

A child let you have total control of their life.

Thats what Christ wants from us. Total control of our life.

Romans tells us

Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 10:9-10 “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

Romans 10:13 “For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.””
