Isaiah 7:14
‘Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.’
Isaiah 9:6
‘For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’
• A Child is born – the physical body of Jesus was born through Mary.
• A Son was given – His spirit, which existed in the beginning, was given.
• Wonderful - H6382 pele - means, a miracle; a marvelous thing.
• Counselor - H3289 yaats - means, to advise; to resolve.
• Mighty God
o Mighty - H1368 gibbowr - means powerful, warrior, champion.
o God - H410 ‘el -means strength, the Almighty, power, strong.
• Everlasting Father
o Everlasting - H5703 ‘ad - means eternity, world without end.
o Father -H1 ‘ab - means chief, principal.
• Prince of Peace
o Prince - H8269 sar - means a head person, captain, chief, general.
o Peace - H7965 shalowm - means safe, well, happy, health, prosperity, welfare, peace, and favor.
Isaiah 40:5
‘The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.’

Isaiah 60:16
‘You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles, and milk the breast of kings; you shall know that I, the LORD, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.’
• Savior - H3467 yasha - means to free; avenge, defend, delver, help, preserve, rescue, be safe, bring salvation, get victory.
• Redeemer - H1350 ga’al - means to be the next of kin, kinsfolk, purchase, ransom.
Jeremiah 23:5-6
‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, that I will raise to David a branch of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: The Lord our Righteousness.’
Zechariah 9:9
‘Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.’
Malachi 3:1

The Old Testament is the New Testament Concealed ~
The New Testament is the Old Testament Revealed.
St. Augustine 354 - 430 AD
• The Old Testament points forward to the coming of the promised Messiah.
• The New Testament reveals the promised Messiah, the Christ, in the person of Jesus of Nazareth.
Matthew 11:11 ~ Jesus says John the Baptist was the greatest Prophet
‘Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.’
John 5:36 ~ Jesus’ testimony is greater than John the Baptist’s
‘But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish – the very works that I do – bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.’
John 5:39 ~ Jesus says the Old Testament Scriptures testify of Him
‘You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.’
John 5:45-46 ~ Jesus says Moses wrote about Him
45 ‘Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you – Moses, in whom you trust.’
46 ‘For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.’
Luke 24:25 ~ On the Road to Emmaus
‘Then He said to them, ‘O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!’
Luke 24:44-46 ~ Christ fulfilled what was written about Him in the Old Testament
44 ‘Then He said to them, ‘These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.’
45 ‘And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.’
46 ‘Then He said to them, ‘Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day.’
• The Law, Prophets and Psalms refers to the whole Old Testament. Jesus states that He fulfilled it all.
• He states that His death and resurrection had to take place so that what was written about Him in the Old Testament could be fulfilled!
Christ is teaching His disciples that the Old Testament from beginning to end is about Him.
