FOCUS (the core of the content to be communicated)
One of the most beautiful aspects of scripture is that is presents the people in it as people just like you & me, people who don’t always have it all together who can be very wrong & selfish.
We read about individuals who are well known & hardly known, heroes & villains, successes & failures, faithful & faithless, full of hope & full of doubt.
Again, people just like you & just like me.
Today’s message is from the experience & point of view of the shepherds.
They are a captivating & compelling part of the nativity narrative.
Prior to their angelic visitation & trip to Bethlehem where the newborn Jesus was lying in a manger, they were just a bunch of nobodies from nowhere who people would more often than not just pass on by.
But everything changed for them that night.
They bore witness to what they had heard & seen.
They knew people must know.
The shepherds show & tell us …
1. God chooses & uses whom He will.
Don’t think for a minute He can’t use you.
- Luke 2:8ff
2. we should worship, glorify, praise & proclaim God for all that
we have heard & seen, which are just as He said they would be.
Our witness flows from us knowing people must know.
- Luke 2:16-20
Making It Real
1] Are you convinced God can use you anyway for anything His chooses?
2] Will you, like the shepherds, get all excited & go make Him known?
Action Step
Reread this passage of scripture asking God to ignite you like He ignited them.
