Play Gospel by Propaganda
I hope everybody has had fun and enjoyed their time eating pizza and playing the games.
I just wanted to take a moment real quick to talk about the reason that we are all here. We at Harvest Baptist Church and Harvest Students are here so that you can know that you are loved and cared for, so to the visitors here tonight I hope you have enjoyed yourself, we are going to be splitting up into small groups after this with other students your age, where you will hopefully be able to get to know each other a bit better.
We are here tonight to have a lot of fun, but we also wanted to make sure that you heard clearly that what the reason for the Christmas season is.
Its easy to get wrapped up in giving gifts, Christmas Parties, and lights and everything else that happens this time of year and completely forget why we celebrate.

Meaning of Christmas

Play Charlie Brown Luke 2
We are here to celebrate the Birth of Jesus.
However we have to look into why we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Thousands of people are born every year, so why was this particular baby so special that almost every culture around the world stops and celebrates Christmas. Even fighters in WW2 stopped fighting each other for a night and celebrated Christmas together, what makes this holiday so special?

Death of Christ

About 30 years after Jesus was born we find that he began his earthly ministry, by preaching, teaching, healing, and traveling all over the country of Israel at the time. He gained a huge following because so many people believed that He would rise up and free them from the oppression of the Roman rulers, however Jesus had bigger plans in mind.
Jesus didnt want to free them from their temporary enslavement, but came to free us from the bondage of sin.

Romans Road

Romans 3:23 (NIV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 (NIV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8 (NIV)
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:13 (NIV)
13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Then we see the results of our Salvation
Romans 8:1–2 (NIV)
Life Through the Spirit
8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Invitation

Close eyes
I dont know where you stand today, I dont know if you have ever put your faith in Jesus Christ, but I know we have talked a lot about it if you have been coming the past couple of weeks.
So please if you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and want to do so God called us to be bold, Im going to ask you that if you have decided that tonight you want to put your faith in Christ please stand up, and one of our leaders will come to speak to you to share more about trusting Jesus.
Now if you have already trusted in Christ but you are realizing that You havent been living the way God would like you to, lets make today a day to remember where you say no more, will I live for myself. no more will I follow my own desires, but I want to fully live for Christ. If thats you, stand up because I want to pray for you.
