I. Who is Jesus? Therapist, Coffee-Lover, Coach, Hippie, Spiritual Guru, Revolutionary, or Good Example?
II. Then there is the real Jesus in Matthew 1:17 and need for Seventh Seven. Matthew 1:17 “So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.”
III. Jesus completes the genealogy and narrative as our Seventh Seven.
IV. Read Matthew 1:18 and comment. Matthew 1:18 “Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.”
V. Read Matthew 1:21 and comment. Matthew 1:21 “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
VI. We are incomplete without Jesus. An old cartoon tells us about our biggest problem. “I have met the enemy and he is me!”
VII. Jesus, the Son of Mary, came to fulfill prophecies as our Seventh Seven.
VIII. Jesus is God with us in Matthew 1:22-23, Matthew 18:20, and Matthew 28:20. Matthew 1:22-23 “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).” Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 28:20 “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
IX. Jesus is Immanuel “God with us” in good times and bad times.
X. Jesus is completes our life as Savior and Substitute.
XI. Jesus and Immanuel, our Seventh Seven, and Christmas gifts forever.
