James Patterson, Author and Emmy Winner quoted as saying “Good memories are like charms...Each is special. You collect them, one by one, until one day you look back and discover they make a long, colorful bracelet."
Two Words I want to focus on. Luke 2:19
I. In the original Greek, the word translated “treasured” in Luke Gospel means “to preserve knowledge or memories… Memories of what? Angelic visitation of Gabriel, Her encounter with her cousin Elizabeth, Her betrothed response to her pregnancy, Her experience with some nomad Shepherds
a. What did the Angel’s say “Jesus would change the world as the Messiah for all of Israel and the Savior of the World” And for us.
b. Mary had remembered the previous nine months as any Mother. Now she collected more treasured memories to store and consider for the future
II. SECOND WORD: “PONDERED ” them in her heart” indicate that Mary did not fully understand everything she was experiencing and learning about Jesus. She knew that He had a divine calling, but what would that be?
a. He would be different but in what way? “All these things” incorporates not just the immediate encounter with the shepherds but all that had taken place. And would take place.
Charles Swindoll “Her memories formed a complex and curious puzzle that dared to be solved. For years to come, Mary would arrange and then rearrange everything she had experienced in order to make sense of it all.”
Have you received any of these yet, Did you know that Christmas Cards are the number one seller of the season, The same year that Charles Dicken’s wrote the Christmas Carol, another soul, Sir Henry Cole commissioned one of the first Christmas Cards. What are they, Reminders from senders of their gratitude, pleasure, love, for them…
Christmas Card “If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist. But since our greatest need was forgiveness, God sent us a Savior.”
