vii. He came for a purpose
viii. It’s all in the name

Wonderful Counselor

i. Think about a lawyer mapping out a plan to win your case
ii. This is the counselor the bible is talking about
iii. Like a lawyer Christ has the qualifications to give the advice
iv. “The point of the description is that this child-king would lead with wisdom far above human wisdom.”
v. Hebrews 4:15–16 (NET 2nd ed.) — 15 For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.
Hebrews 4:15–16 NET 2nd ed.

Mighty God

i. Rules from a position of power
ii. He will win every battle

Everlasting Father

ii. It points to a relationship
iii. Matthew 11:27–30 (NASB95) — 27 “All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:27–30 NASB95

Prince of Peace

i. Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV) — 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
