SLIDE 5 “THE SCROLL OF SEVEN SEALS”
Recap from last week Rev 6 about the white horse
Recap from Daniel 7 about how the nations develope into the timeline and world situations of the times into Rev 6
SLIDE 6
Revelation 6:1 (NASB95)
1 Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.”
SLIDE 7
Revelation 6:2 (NASB95)
2 I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
SLIDE 8
Revelation 6:3 (NASB95)
3 When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.”
As we saw last two weeks Anti christ here deceives and conquers the earth peacefully, he was given a crown
SLIDE 9
Revelation 6:4 (NASB95)
4 And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.
Notice as the living creature says “come”
Its a shown the one living creatures says this for the white horse, then second living creature for the red horse
The Antichrist begins his conquest with peace but soon he exchanges his empty bow to a sword
The color red is often associated with terror and death
We will see later in Revelation that there will be a red dragon and a red beast
Horses represent God’s activity on earth or the forces He uses to accomplish His divine purposes
We can again gain more insight about this here in the book of Zechariah
Interesting in the time of Israels captivity in Babylon....again in the time of king Darius.....again where we found ourselves in Daniel 7 last week and again the biblical timeline focused on the Jews and Israel
SLIDE 10
Zechariah 1:7 (NASB95)
7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, as follows:
SLIDE 11
Zechariah 1:8 (NASB95)
8 I saw at night, and behold, a man was riding on a red horse, and he was standing among the myrtle trees which were in the ravine, with red, sorrel and white horses behind him.
SLIDE 12
Zechariah 1:9 (NASB95)
9 Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” And the angel who was speaking with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”
SLIDE 13
Zechariah 1:10 (NASB95)
10 And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are those whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.”
SLIDE 14
Revelation 6:5 (NASB95)
5 When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.
SLIDE 15
Revelation 6:6 (NASB95)
6 And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.”
The color black is often connected with famine
Famine and war go together
A denarius the was a full day wages (a penny)
Very interesting....A full days work will only buy enough food for the one who has earned the denarius
Ordinarily a person could buy 8-12 measures for a denarius
SLIDE 16
Revelation 6:7 (NASB95)
7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.”
SLIDE 17
Revelation 6:8 (NASB95)
8 I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.
Ashen horse would represent a pale horse
We are reminded that it is Jesus who holds the keys to death and hades and both will one day be cast into hell
Death claims the body while hades claims the soul of the dead
As we see the Lamb is the One who opens the scrolls that reminds us that God is still in control and brings us comfort in that
WORSHIP TEAM COME
SLIDE 18
Isaiah 55:1 (NASB95)
1 “Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have no money come, buy and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without cost.
SLIDE 19
Isaiah 55:2 (NASB95)
2 “Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And delight yourself in abundance.
SLIDE 20
Isaiah 55:3 (NASB95)
3 “Incline your ear and come to Me.
Listen, that you may live;
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
According to the faithful mercies shown to David.
