Born to Die

Hebrews 2:9–18 (ESV)

But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.

For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source.

That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying,

“I will tell of your name to my brothers;

in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”

And again,

“I will put my trust in him.”

And again,

“Behold, I and the children God has given me.”

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.

Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

John 3:16 ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Humanity was not created to live as slaves.

We were given dominion in the garden.

Through sin and rebellion, slavery entered in.

Christ has come to redeem us from the curse of the law of sin and death.

Bethlehem happened so Calvary could happen.

Christ was born in a manger so He could rise from a tomb.

Immanuel—

God is for you.

Romans 8:31

God is with you.

Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.””

Psalm 118:6-7 “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.

What can man do to me?

The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.”

Psalm 27:10 “For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.”

Matthew 28:20 “teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””

God is in you.

Romans 8:9

Romans 8:11 “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”

God is not only for you, but He is with you, and ultimately He is God in you.
