Romans 5:15-17

Romans 5:15 NKJV
15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
WE can’t earn the free gift
Religion wants you to earn the gift
Have you ever thought you had to earn God’s love?
The actual offense Adam committed didn’t start with Sin
It started when he took into consideration a different way of doing things outside of obedience to God
Offense is trespass or false step
Many died (Sins resounding consequences)
Effects everyone
apethanon- die; (in water) to drown
To cease to have vital functions, whether at an earthly or transcendent level
The world without Jesus is treading water
I think without the realization of who Jesus is as a Christian you can remain in the same place
Have you ever been close to drowning?
How does that compare to struggling through life?
Romans 5:16 NKJV
And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.
The wages of sin is death (thanks Adam)
Judgement lead to condemnation
Grace lead to Justification
Romans 5:17 NKJV
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
Offense again is trespass
What does trespassing look like?
Overstepping your boundaries
God put perameters on our lives with His word
We trespass when we get outside the boundAries of his Word and get into our Pride the wrong territory
Reigned:
Basileuo-to exercise authority at a royal level, be king
2 Corinthians 4:4 NKJV
whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
As Christians we now walk in the authority that enemy stole with the fall of Man
The Gospel shines a light on the revelation of that Power
We are put back into the Right standing with God
We are put back into the same state that Adam had when he was in the garden
Genesis 1:28–30 (NKJV)
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.
We’re now through Christ supposed to walk in the same authority
Why don’t we walk in that same authority?
Knowledge of past experiences
The enemy wants to try and remind you of your mortality
How to past experiences determine your future?
Subdue- overcome, bring under control
The word subdue in Genesis is like bring into bondage or captivity
1 Corinthians 9:27 NKJV
But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
Bring our Bodies into subjection
How do you bring your body into subjection?
Deny it what it wants
The Body follows the mind
2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
If we want to subdue and take dominion we have to have a thought and physical life that is brought into subjection by the word of God
Think bigger than what you you’re used to
What do you need to think bigger about?
God wants to establish his covenant in you!
Recieve it
