Isaiah 9:1-7...

This is a promise to Israel (God’s Chosen) that there will be a Son given, God’s Son, to be a Messiah. That would mean way more to people in those days, these people were severely oppressed, mainly by their own doing, but there were some among them that were meek and lowly, not having any power.
There were some that were wealthy, proud, successful and they had been part of the oppression.
So, when you hear these prophecies of the coming of the Son of man, the Deliverer, the Savior, there was a remnant that was truly looking for the True Messiah, others were looking for a great military leader.
There will be a time coming when the Messiah will come and rule the earth, the government of the earth will be upon His shoulders.
Meaning the rule of Heaven will be instituted on earth, no longer will satan be the prince of this world, He is cast out.
Ruled by the ordinances of Heaven, restored if you will, no longer left to man!
These are great truths if you believe that we are fallen! The greatest truth of Christmas, the greatest joy of Christmas, is that we are a creation that has fallen out of fellowship with God, in which was the original intent of human life.
Verse 7 then makes a powerful statement about life under the government of Jesus Christ, of the increase of that government there will be no end!
This marks a powerful truth, some relate this to the birth of Christ and verse 6 begins with that, but this prophecy is dealing with the end result of Christ’s coming (which is our reason to rejoice).......the reign of Christ!
I have read that some talk about this as far as missionary work, the increase of converts, etc., I do not think this is what is meant here.
Everything about this speaks of as time when satan is overthrown, Christ reigns, and order is established back on earth, but mainly the increase of life in the presence of God is restored.
True believers have a limited experience in the presence of God now, but only in the facts of His truth, His Holy Spirit living within us........but there is nothing that can compare to be redeemed and placed full in the presence of God!
Therefore, it is referred to as His government, which simply means we have been allowed in to the reign of Christ!
His reign has always been there, it is just that we went our own way and the result of that is alienation because as a fallen creature we could never be able to be in the presence of God!
Jesus restored that by meeting the ransom of fallen creation, paying the penalty that was due, eternal death.
With that understanding we coming to the increase of His government (rule)........
Increase has a meaning of having but being in short supply, meaning a greater harvest than what you did have or was expecting.............
Because of Jesus Christ everything about living in Christ will be increased, by Jesus now ruling you will receive the increase of Spiritual blessings because of our relationship with God!
Those that have faithfully lived out their life trusting God rather than their own lives, know that there is an increase coming and of that increase there will be no end.
Increase in what?? What will be the increase in a world ruled solely by God?
Man’s hands are taken off of it, satan’s deception is gone....so what is the increase?
The increase is the presence of God....David said in Psalm 16:11 “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy; At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Fullness of joy is in the presence of God..........When you start making this about “things” then you miss the essential beauty of this truth!
We lost something at the fall, it was a beautiful fellowship with a Holy, Pure, Loving God, we lost our source of life!
Death then entered, meaning the body dies, but also the soul of man would die!
Inwardly, I believe the search to restore that beautiful fellowship is desired, but because of our flesh and through the deception of the devil we seek it out in other ways.
