The Birth of the Savior
The Birth of the Savior
8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.
10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
!Sign; “O Holy Night”!
Jesus’ birth is to bring peace, shalom.
We still find the Jews greeting themselves “Shalom”
You can give someone nothing better than Peace.
The message to the Sheppards was this: The Birth of the Savior; is Peace on Earth. Jesus said;
Is there a difference in the peace he offers?
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
When I heard of the passing of Twitch, it really shocked the world. It really shocked those around him.
He was the face of peace. (No one could this like this person, said his friends and family. He lid up any room. The peace he had with Allison is to admire it.
But what about inner peace.
We are suppose to have it together, It’s like that is expected of everyone. We look with awkwardness when someone is this playing no peace. (On the street, Bus, etc…)
Becauase for the most part most of us try to act peaceful, but are we at peace.
One of our defense mechanism is called; “Identification”
he identifies with another person. This results in the unconscious taking over of various elements of another
The peace offered by Jesus this season.
The peace offered by Jesus this season.
This is one of the great gifts of salvation. “Peace”
Life has taken us through many unforgettable moments in our life.
Moments we would like to forget.
Moments we rather not talk about.
Moments buried in the unconsciousness.
The Lord’s peace takes us to remove, not hide this moments.
You and I can act like we are better than you but the reality is we are not. We are all sinners. Sin that leads to death.
This Christmas I want you to think are you walking int he peace of this world or the peace offered by our Saviour?
Why Sheppards
Why Sheppards
Why Mary for that matter?
Why Sheppards?
5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
God opposes the proud.
If God opposes me for my attitude, what hope do I have.
The Bible says; If God is for me, who can be against me.
God gives grace to the humble.
Money makes money, you have to have some before you make some.
Look at humility as the soil needed to grow the fruit of the Spirit, Does your soil have humility?
God will lift up the humble.
