I have been to Alaska twice in my lifetime once in the winter and once in the summer. In the winter it is dark for most of the day with only about 5 hours of sunlight. The nights are dark and cold during the winter months. I would not want to live there, especially during the winter because of those long cold nights. Lack of light brings about feelings of isolation, depression, and sometimes even despair. In the darkness there seems to be no vision, no direction, and no purpose.
