Funeral for Pat (2022)

Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 ESV

1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: 2 a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3 a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

we dont get to pick our season,

we can decide with it starts or when it ends or when it changes.

But there are a few things that we can remember when dealing with the different seasons that are in our lives.

This season will not last forever.

good or bad things will change

When it changes i dont know but i am not stuck here.

The Next season will have its ups and downs, but we learn from them

Your not the only one in your season.

This season you are here and find your self in a mix of morning, questions, concerns. and all of these feelings and more are completely normal to have. And its a good possibility that this is not the first nor last time we will find ourselves in a similar place. But today I don’t want you to walk out of here hopeless and broken.

Scripture tells us in

Matthew 5:4 (ESV)

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

God has promised to be there for us in our times of need, he is willing to comfort us and help us through hard and confusing times.

Thats everyone. there is no one here that God does not love, no one here that is to far gone, or that has out sinned the Grace of God. He is here wating for you to let him help

2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (ESV)

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

how do we start ? what do we do, what do we say.

Scripture tells us that our salvation is not based on anything that we have done, so its not what we do,

Its not saying the right things beceause words are not what makes the differnt.

When you need God, he simpley says

Matthew 11:28 (ESV)

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Come to him, find him, let him in to your life. let him help you find who he designed you to be. It starts with coming to him and accepting his help and who he is in your life. How he wants to be in our life, your lord and savoir

This life is not the say all end all. Today we morn for Pat who has moved on to his eternity, and every day we are moving closer to ours. Scripture tells us that it is the will of the Father that we all end our life here and find our place beside him in eternity.

To do this, God has reached out to us where we are today thought this action of sending his son to die on a cross for the sins that we have and will commit. to give us freedome. he did this because he loved us in a way that we can not understand.

John 3:16–17 ESV

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Thats is, just that simple, By truly beliving in Jesus, we are given hope, joy peace and a life in heave when this one is done. Today before you leave today I pray that you will refect on your life today. where is your leading you after death. Because Heaven and Hell are there, we have an option of two, in the presence of God or not. and today we have an opptunity to make things right and walk to god and not away from him.

If you do not know where your life is heading, if you dont know but your life after this one, or maybe you do and you know that there needs to be a chage of directin I want you to pray this prayer with me. THis prayer is not the magic words, its not the words but the meaning behind t hem, admiting that you are a sinner, saying that we believe in the life death and resurection of Jesus and that we coffecs that I need salvation and that my life is now his. If we do this, we are saved and start a journy to God and his peace and love,. Will you pray with me.

I pray for each of you today that you remember the great times that you shared with Pat. the journy in this life i pray is never forgotten. and that something today was said to help you if only a little bit.
