Last week in Matthew 1 we considered the unexpected nature of God’s eternal and wise plan to save us. Having looked at Joseph’s response to the angel’s news of Immanuel’s coming, we turn to Luke 1 this week to consider Mary’s reception of the same news. Her “Magnificat” serves us as a model of rightly placed joy and rejoicing during the Christmas Season and throughout the rest of the year.
