Introduction:
Introduction:
Tonight we have worshiped the King together as we’ve celebrated his first coming into the world.
He was BORN as a King.
He was BORN as a King.
When the angel Gabriel revealed to Mary she would give birth to the Lord he said these words:
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
Then about a year later when the wise men came searching for a king in:
2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
He was CELEBRATED as a King. The triumphal entry:
He was CELEBRATED as a King. The triumphal entry:
38 saying: “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
He was ACCUSED as a King.
He was ACCUSED as a King.
Jesus’ enemies to Pilate:
2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”
At the trial of Jesus before Pilate:
33 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
37 Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
He was MOCKED as a King.
He was MOCKED as a King.
28 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
He was CRUCIFIED as a King.
He was CRUCIFIED as a King.
37 And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS
He was RAISED as a King.
He was RAISED as a King.
20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
He will RETURN as a King.
He will RETURN as a King.
14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”
Revelation is a book of prophecy. It was written by the apostle John, probably near the end of the first century. This was a time when believers were beginning to face opposition from the Roman government. Revelation reveals that the world will continue to oppose God and His people throughout this present age until Christ returns.
Jesus will return as the King of kings, but right now He wants to be the King of our lives.
KING OF OUR LIVES
KING OF OUR LIVES
How can we make Jesus the King of our lives? We FOLLOW Him. “
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
To “follow” Jesus means:
• Obey Him. A king expects obedience from his followers. We need to say, “I am not the king.” The first act of obedience is to put your faith in Him for salvation.
• Imitate Him.
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
IS HE YOUR KING?
He’s coming back as the King of kings. But He also wants to be your King.
Christ is worthy to be the King of your life. Is He the King of your life today?
• Christ desires an initial commitment to Him.
• Christ expects a daily commitment to Him.
