I. The Christmas Promise: Rev. 21:1-7

A. The promise of Christmas is that Jesus came to die for our sins. The result of following Jesus is adoption and paradise.
B. The angel promised Joseph that Jesus would do this. Matt. 1:21

“She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
C. Jesus is the Greek rendering of Joshua. Joshua led the children of Israel into the promised land to fight battles for peace. Jesus leads us into the Christian life to fight battles for peace and into the ultimate promise land as described in Revelation. Matt. 10:34

II. The Christmas Purpose: Rev. 21:22-27

A. The purpose of Christmas is for God to call a people His own.
B. This was the Message of John the Baptist and Jesus Luke 1:16

“And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God.

For my eyes have seen Your salvation, Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, A Light of revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
C. This purpose/message should be ours too.

III. The Christmas Preparation: Rev. 22:10-16, 20-21

A. This preparation is coming to Christ. Have you come to Christ?
B. If you have do you look forward to seeing Him? If not why not?
